Chinzanso (as it's commonly called) is the cream de la cream of hotels when it comes to weddings and special events. They have incredible gardens, a mind bending variety of art and various collections on display. One notable element is their English High Tea.

The only complaint, it's not easy to access if you don't have a car. It's at the top of a hill— which is beautiful, but can be inconvenient if you're in a rush. The airport bus stops here so, travel to/from the airports isn't a problem.

Walking through the garden entrance is so lush, green, and serene that it’s almost impossible to believe that you’re still in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The traditional Japanese garden makes it difficult to believe that this is modern Tokyo. Almost – a few other skyscrapers in the area are still somewhat visible above the treetops. It’s hard to actually put into words how gorgeous and well maintained the garden area is, so take a good look at the pictures.
The hotel features a wide variety of luxury rooms that are spacious and almost as impressive as the garden outside. Guests can choose between viewing the city line or the garden outside from their rooms. Most of the larger rooms come fully furnished with full living room sets.
Other perks include several different spas and health treatment rooms, a pool, a fitness gym, an indoor and outdoor jakuzi, a sauna, a traditional hot spring, and a beauty salon. Seriously this place has it all!

The Four Seasons at Chinzan-so is a very pleasant property. The style is similar to that of some of the other more traditional FS properties -- think Philadelphia or Boston. Although the location of the property is very inconvenient, it has a gorgeous and expansive garden that feels more Kyoto than Tokyo. Due to the location, I probably wouldn't choose this property again; however, it is worth a stay if you'd like to escape the hustle and bustle and experience a bit of "romantic" Japan in Tokyo.

A few highlights of the property:

- attentive kind service
- an incredible garden. lovely views of the on-sight pagoda (visible from some guest rooms and from the Il Teatro restaurant)
- free access to the gym (often an extra at hotels in Japan)
- high quality food and beverage. The breakfast was excellent
- a Japanese onsen (hot spring) and relatively large indoor pool (for an additional charge of 5,000 JPY). These are both quite rare in Tokyo

The only real negative is the location. Because there are no trains close by, you will have to take a taxi to get to / from the property. Mejiro station is only 10 minutes away but the property is definitely secluded. Great for a break from the city but not great if you want to be in the center of things or need easy access to meetings (and don't want to take taxis).

If you have always wanted to see traditional Japan but won't have a chance to leave Tokyo, this is a nice way to add a little bit of Kyoto to your business trip.

One potential downfall that I didn't experience is the proximity to the wedding event hall. My guess is that things get pretty crowded in the public spaces when there is a big event.

The property does offer incredible rates right now even though I didn't see them on the hotel website. I received a very good rate by buying an AA Vacations package. Ended up being only slightly more than $200 a night, including breakfast. Absolutely unheard of.

A rare oasis in Tokyo, it's tucked s bit out of the way in a charming old neighborhood in Tokyo. If u want real authenticity spend some time in the onsen-a great get away in winter or summer,

Local from Minato, Japan

can see firefly at Japanese garden in July, so really fantastic.
