Semarang Vacations

Semarang is a bustling city of about a million and a half residents, and although the focus of a lot of the action here is on everyday business life, the city does still have a solid tourist appeal. Visitors here will face a bit of a conundrum when touring this expansive and bustling city. The weather is very much hot and humid, making it a bit of ... Read more
a sweaty experience for most going at it by foot. This can be endured more comfortably by wearing shorts and tee shirts, but this is itself where the problem arises. See, most all of the major attractions are temples, and be they Buddhist or Muslim, a more appropriate dress code (particularly one requiring long pants) is required to gain entry. As you can see, it's a tough decision to choose between comfort and admission, so consider bringing a pair of pants to throw over your shorts if you are worried about keeping cool. You'll want to figure something out, since the wealth of attractions range from spectacular temples like the Sam Po Kong Temple, to amazing examples of Dutch Colonial architecture like Lawang Sewu. A truly enlightening incite into a unique culture, a visit to Semarang's sweltering streets is more than worth having to change cloths for.

visit is during Java’s dry season (May to September); however, even this time of the year is no stranger to the occasional rainstorm. The weather tends to be most optimal in May, June and September when it’s dry and not as humid. However, if you’re looking for deals and a less crowded vaycay, visit during Java’s rainy season (November to March). Unlike other Southeast Asian countries, Java doesn’t get pounded too hard by monsoonal downpours; instead, expect a couple hours of rain in the late afternoon.

Pittsford (town), New York

This was the port for our trip to Borobudur so we didn't do much in this town. It was worth the several hours trip to go the Temple and I would highly recommend it.
