You don't get a name like "CondoResorts" unless you have precisely that – entire condos in the middle of a resort. Not gonna lie: These units are shockingly beautiful. They don't just hang paintings; they hang metal sculptures on the bedroom walls. They don't just have couches; they have leather couches. You could cook for a dozen people in the kitchens, and the balconies are bigger than my home patio. Meridian is the height of luxury, and that's minus all the golf (the main reason people stay here) and the Canyon Falls Spa. The golf course is one of the greenest places I've ever seen in Maricopa County, and the surrounding hills are breathtaking. If you decide not to buy a yacht and stay here instead, you probably won't regret it.

This is a set of vacation rentals that make you feel like you're living at an apartment instead of a hotel. The one I was at was in North Scottsdale in the mountains, which made for one pretty setting. I loved how homey these felt. I could see someone on a long-term work assignment enjoying their time. Keep in mind that this isn't a hotel, so you won't be able to enjoy perks of a 24-hour front desk or a anything like that. I loved the balconies and how each room was closed off with doors. It's nice to have that privacy.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Meridian CondoResorts when I stepped into their office in north Scottsdale. I wanted to check out one of their condos to see for myself what they offer in terms of a condo or a resort (or both?). The nice woman at the office couldn't locate the person who could give me a tour of one of the units, but she did give me directions to a couple of their units so I could at least check out the exterior. The condos are apparently quite luxurious on the inside, which wouldn't surprise me at all, judging from the surroundings. The unit I saw was beautifully landscaped with shady trees and had views of a beautiful lake. I think the main reason why you'll want to book a stay with Meridian is that they have access to all the top notch golf courses in Scottsdale and specialize in "stay and play" packages. But even if you're not a golf aficionado, these condos would be a very nice to stay in if you're traveling with the whole family and want to settle in for a while.

This place is a bit weird. Meridian CondoResorts isn't a resort in the normal sense of the word, nor is it condos. It's something in between. Meridian has a series of condos spread across a few complexes in the greater Scottsdale area. I only got to see a condo at the Pillar Delux Apartment Complex, but the woman who showed me around said all of the condos are more or less the same.

Space. Lots of it in these things. The condo I saw was three stories (well, two, not counting the included garage). And let's talk about parking for a second: most places don't offer either the security or proximity of Meridian's private parking, a big plus. The second floor houses the kitchen, living room and a bedroom, and the third floor was the master bedroom.

The décor is a bit dated, and could use some updating, but if you're looking for a place to house a few people and don't mind not having the amenities of a central hotel you could do worse.
