Nice hotel in a great location on the edge of Old Town Scottsdale with a nice outdoor pool and an ok gym. Also within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops.

The location of this hotel is stellar. I was in walking distance from old town Scottdale's many bars, restaurants and shops. The lobby here is stunning and spacious. Eating breakfast there would be a true joy. The on-site restaurant and bar are great for nights when you don't feel like leaving the hotel. The outdoor pool looked gorgeous too. The rooms here are decorated nicely, but are a little on the small side. Expect a bed, microwave and Keurig machine. Parking here is tricky. You'll probably have to park in the garage since there's very little surface parking. Being under a covered lot is a good thing in Phoenix.

I was genuinely surprised by how chic this Hilton Garden Inn looked. The front entrance has a really pretty fountain and access to the patio and pool. The patio is just as nice as some of the outdoor spaces I've seen at higher-priced resorts. Not bad at all. For a business class hotel, it certainly is colorful, which I really appreciated. Bright pops of color can really liven up a space (it's easy to get tired of all the beige at many hotels). The lobby has several refreshing drinks available all day, and the hotel also hosts an evening reception during the week. The rooms are clean, modern and looked very clean. The main drawback I can see about staying here is that there is not a lot of self-parking. It is Old Town, after all, where parking can be at a premium, especially during the busy winter and spring seasons. But even then, you can easily maneuver to all the Old Town attractions, and Scottsdale Stadium is just around the bend.

This updated property in the heart of Old Town delivered in some areas and fell short in others.
Pluses: Gorgeous lobby decorated like the home of a Southern debutante; really great bar/lounge with a Key West feel to it; upscale room service menu; large pool with separated hot tub area; outside lights strung around the patio for ambiance; free breakfast with later hours on the weekends
Misses: Room was nothing to write home about, while the two front desk clerks were very nice, they seemed confused and it took an unusually long time to get the room card; no free shuttle service; room service only goes until 10 p.m.
Bonus? The hotel’s location is perfect for going on a proper Old Town bar crawl then ending the night with karaoke at The Original Grapevine – within stumbling distance of your room.

Walking into the lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn Scottsdale Old Town from the Arizona summer heat is like a breath of fresh air: cool, clean and spacious. I sipped on a glass of ice water with a hint of lemon as I toured this 7-story hotel. Its rooms look like they’ve been partially updated over the years, but if the Nintendo 64 controller attached to the TV is any sign, there are still some remnants of the past lying around. The desk in the one I looked at was a bit dinged up as well, but other than that the room was pretty clean. As the name suggests, the Hilton Garden Inn is right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, so it’s close to a lot of local shops and restaurants, all within walking distance (perhaps a more pleasant walk in the winter than in the summer, but walking distance all the same).
