We love this place. Ever since 2000 we have stayed at the Holiday Inn whenever we visit SFO Fisherman's Wharf. Perfect place for us.
This Holiday Inn at Fisherman’s Wharf is one of two locations in the area. It’s more of an upscale, urban Holiday Inn than the one on the side of the highway when you need to find a place to crash for the night on a road trip. There’s a luggage cart stand, a concierge, fresh apples at the front desk, and a currency exchange. There’s also a heated pool and fitness center, parking for guests and a small gift shop in the lobby for anything you forget. Breakfast is available, but not complimentary. The lobby was bustling when I arrived with guests on their way to and from neighboring Fisherman’s Wharf, headed on cable car rides, and with excited kids in tow on their way to go see the seals. It’s a great choice for families since it’s an easy walk to attractions, but also great for business travelers who need a location that’s accessible to downtown.
The Holiday Inn at Fisherman’s Wharf may not be the newest of hotels, but it’s well-maintained in such a way that it feels new. Carpets are bright red and the trimmings still shimmer. Service is friendly and the property is clean. On sunny days, the pool is a lovely place to be. The restaurant by the lobby is open and inviting, and the cafe serves Starbucks Coffee (for better or for worse).
The rooms are nice. I loved the wood furnishings and the look of the bed, complete with red throw pillows. Wireless Internet is free, a necessity, but breakfasts come with a surcharge.
But what I love most about this hotel is its location. It’s situated along Columbus Avenue, making it really easy to walk to North Beach, and thus Chinatown and the Financial District. Fisherman’s Wharf, of course, is very close. If you prefer not to walk, take the 30 straight downtown, or head to the nearby Cable Car stops.
For those who like to eat late at night, there’s a 24/7 Denny’s located attached to one of the complexes.
Fisherman's Wharf is quintessential San Francisco, and the Holiday Inn is a prime location blocks away from the action. From here you can visit Pier 39 to see sea lions, Ghirardelli Square for some excellent chocolate, the aquarium, ferries to Alcatraz and more! Grab some soup in a breadbowl or catch the cable car downtown. So it's a great spot, but unlike in real estate, location of a hotel isn't *everything*. The Holiday Inn is a no-frills hotel that is kept up well and the cleanliness is maintained. The room is adequate, though the bathrooms are small. Upon check-in, we were given a gift bag of full-sized toiletries for being Priority Club members, so we enjoyed that perk. We were busy exploring the city so didn't take advantage of the pool, but it is heated, which is a great perk since being so near the bay makes for chilly weather. There is convenient parking on-site for a decent price, and the hotel offers free wifi, which I always consider to be a very desirable feature!
Good location for a hotel in fishermans wharf but not the best you're gonna find...even though it might be the best price (I only paid 139 a night for the high summer tourist season). The breakfast is alright and the rooms aren't exactly the nicest or best equipped (old tv, boring decor, etc).
