The beach is popular for swimming, scuba and snorkeling, and also boasts a beautiful picnic area in Scripps Park, located on the bluffs above the beach. As home annually to the La Jolla Cove Rough Water swim, among other local traditions, there's no wonder why La Jolla Cove is truly a must experience California destination.

Great views. Great outdoors adventures of many kinds. Extremely challenging parking. And note - the Pacific Ocean on the USA west coast is cold - the water stream descends from the arctic. You’ve been warned.

A small cove inhabited by people, seals and tide pools with a lifeguard keeping an eye on all concerned.

Cool little very scenic beach strewn with boulders, rocks, and a tunnel. The water can get a bit rough and its pretty small so during high tide...not a lot of beach to lie on.

La Jolla does have some amazing coast line with cool spots to climb on the coastal rocks and close encounters with seals and sea lions. You can get pretty close to them. However, please note that the closer you get to the rocks there is a strong odor of bird and seal manure which is very unpleasant.

Mother Nature at her best... the open ocean, cool breeze, fresh air and clear sky... see the baby seals and their parents (along with various birds and shrubbery)!

Such a fun place to explore. Always seals laying out in the sun, and people to meet.

Popular place to go swimming, snorkeling, diving, and to see sea lions. La Jolla sea caves are also around the corner.

This is a center of the beach experience in La Jolla. Marine wildlife, ocean and cliff views that can't be beat. Some of the most picturesque views you will ever see of the Pacific.

A stunning beach with exceptional sand and surf! The only downside is how crowded the beach can get.

It was lots of fun! Wipeout beach is epic and the water is clear. Only the smell is a concern... but other than that I totally recommend!

Absolutely stunning. Seeing the seals is amazing too. Especially when you go out on the little walkway and can look right over them. The water is the most beautiful deep blue. I want to live here. Parking can be annoying but sometimes in the streets close to the beach itself you can find some free street parking in the neighborhoods. If you can go get breakfast at Richard Walker's Pancake House.

One of my favorite places in San Diego. It doesn't feel like I've visited unless I stop here. There are sea lions, seals, pelicans and cormorants, but I think my favorite thing to watch is the people. It's just a beautiful and fascinating place to be. Sunsets here are absolutely spectacular.

La Jolla Cove is so beautiful. The views are exquisite, the food is great and the seals are quite a sight. There are a lot of tourists that get way too close to them in my opinion.
