My favorite top of the line hotel to stay at every time I make a visit to SD. This is close by to the marina and various downtown local shops. The room is nicely organized, comfy bed and the swimming pool is clean! Huge plus.

Only downfall is the expensive fee they slap on for parking. It's $25 a night.

My stay here was exceptional. Talking about feeling the love of the people here.

Driving down to San Diego from Orange County midweek before the afternoon traffic starts is such an easy drive. It's beautiful as well with ocean views to the west. As you make your way to the downtown area, the hotels and buildings create a beautiful skyline. Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is part of the skyline.

* Travel tip: The easiest way to park when checking in at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is by valet. They have garage parking as well but the spaces are a bit limited. There is also lot parking behind the hotel too, but it is quite a walk to the hotel if lugging bags and suitcases.

The lobby is stunning with it's tropical, oceanic feel with floor-to-ceiling windows giving off a feeling that you're on a tropical island. The front desk staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Check-in is quick and then you're on your way to your room. The tropical, oceanic theme continues from the lobby along meeting corridors to the elevators. You really start to forget you are in San Diego.

The 1 King or 2 Double, Bay view, Balcony Room is 400 square feet with central air-conditioning. Amenities include: chair, alarm clock, in-room safe, work desk with ergonomic chair and electrical outlets, iron and ironing board, coffee maker with an array of coffees and teas, Bath and Body Works bathroom amenities, hair dryer, lighted make-up mirror, robes, phone with voicemail and speakerphone, internet access, and flat-screen TV with premium movie channels. These rooms are also non-smoking. The balcony is 50 square-feet with two chairs and a small table, ample for lounging during the day - enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening night cap. The view is breathtaking - the mirrored tower on the opposite side reflects the bay and marina. To the west is the marina, San Diego Bay, and Coronado Island. To the east, is a view of the Gaslamp Quarter. Below is a beautiful birds-eye view of the pool area that beckons like a tropical oasis.

The hotel also has a Gift Shop with San Diego themed fashion and accessories, souvenirs, drinks, snacks, and various necessities you may have forgotten to pack like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.

If you're attending a meeting and in need of a quick bite in the morning before sessions starts or a snack in-between sessions, stop by the Exchange. They have grab-and-go eats like muffins, cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, snacks, and a variety of refrigerated beverages. If you're staying at the hotel, this also a great place to stock up for the room for a night cap.

Marriott Marquis also has an on-site restaurant, Marina Kitchen Restaurant & Bar, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. See my review on it. Make sure to check out Marina Kitchen's new Tasting Bar where you can enjoy wine tastings daily at 4 p.m.

I love this hotel!!! I would give it 6 stars if I could!

The SD Marriott Marquis is a huge property that spans two towers. The views whether Marina view or city view are both fantastic. The rooms are very spacious and efficient. This is the choice hotel to stay especially if in SD for a convention since the convention center is attached to the hotel.

Located in downtown San Diego near the Convention Center, the Marriott Marina is both beautiful as well as comfortable. I was in San Diego for a wedding and all of the guests continued the party in their beautiful lobby bar, which was a welcome alternative to the touristy Gaslamp district.

By far the most convenient hotel we have stayed in while in San Diego. If you are looking a hotel that is walking distance to Gaslamp, Marriott can be on your list. The hotel is walking distance to Gaslamp (10 minutes) and by the Marina, which you can totally walk around while you are staying at the hotel. At the hotel, there is access to the Marina boardwalk, which I recommend to do in the morning to enjoy the weather.

Near by:
Seafood village (where you can walk around and enjoy the scenery and the ocean) can be walking distance if you don't want to pay for parking
Gaslamp (There's a mall, a bunch of restaurants, and bars)

At this hotel, you will have to pay for parking, even if you are planning to self-park. The downside would be that self-parking can be cheap, but it is only one pay and if you leave with your car, you will have to pay to come in again...Instead of wasting the money on self parking, mind as well spend another extra $10 to valet. Valet stop is in the front and the guys will help you out with the luggage and hand you your claim number and just let them know the number and they will get your car whenever you want to use it while you are staying here. As for guest.... there are no guest parking, however, they will have to park elsewhere and walk to your hotel. Well worth the walk if they find parking close by. Least your guest will get to enjoy what you are enjoying.

There's a pool and a Jacuzzi shared with everyone. Food and drinks can be purchased at their bar located outside. Yes, you can bring your own drinks to the pool. There's a Starbucks and another coffee shop located inside the hotel, so you can grab some coffee before you start your day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room in the room and the bed was comfortable. And if you forget to bring your toothbrush or toothpaste, call the front desk, they have it!

This is a great hotel for both patrons and people stopping by. It has one of the nicest bar areas near seaport village. Complete with an awesome pool it makes for a great place to stay.

I've been to some events here and the views are amazing. Great bartenders and very close to the water and downtown nightlife.

San Diego, CA; San Diego, the city of sunshine. When staying in San Diego I heavily recommend staying at the Marriott Marina which is literally on the Marina and a block away from the Gaslamp District. Watch the sunset at the Marina or try some amazing Italian food at the Gaslamp District. This Marriott resort offers a large pool for the family as well as balcony views of the Marina as well the beautiful island of Coronado. RG 4/2010 and 11/2013

The Marriott Marina is one of the more beautiful Marriotts in the family - right along the San Diego bay and near Seaport Village, you are only steps away from all the downtown and oceanfront action. The Convention Center is next door, the marina leads you straight into Seaport Village, or you can cross the street into the Gaslamp Quarter. And their pool resort is stunning! Tiki torches, cabanas, fire pits and comfy luxury patio chairs, plus a jungle-like array of trees and shrubbery. Plus, they have an in-house Starbucks, and a private ferry that takes you across the bay to the Coronado Marriott Island Resort. I love this hotel.

I confess the Marriott is my favorite hotel brand anyway, but this particular Marriott is at the top of the list. The location is stunning right on the bay, so views are spectacular, and the convenient access to the trendy Gaslamp Quarter, the San Diego Convention Center, the trolley, downtown San Diego, and tons of restaurants and bars makes this a perfect stay. The hotel is beautiful, service is exceptional; you can't go wrong staying here!

A hotel in Gaslamp District, right off the bay with views of Coronado, a walkway leading to Seaport Village and the navy ships..

Well, first things first, the gloomy weather didn't allow me to get the tan I needed in their pretty, tropical pool area: two pools + a jacuzzi + a waterfall +lotsa palm trees. I so badly wanted to soak the sun but SD's gloomy clouds had to visit during MY visit. Their pools were heated so at least I got to go in for a short bit. I know if I ever come back I HAVE to hit the pool if weather permits.

I took full advantage that the hotel was right off the Seaport Village walkway and had my morning run to the US Navy ships to the Hilton and back to the hotel. I was even able to work out some more at the next door SD Convention Center and made my own stair master. Plus this hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to Gas lamp!

The rooms themselves were quite average. Luckily our group had a Bay View Guest room with two double beds, which I must say were quite comfy. After having some fun in the district, I slept like a baby in that bad. The bathroom itself was kind of small, but I did like the complimentary Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner and body soap.

Service and Parking.. hmmm this is probably why I give this place a 3 and not a 4. When you drive up to the hotel you have options: Self parking or Valet. And you self park either at the north or south parking lots. I went to the south and yanno what.. it's ALL outdoors. Considering I HAVE to pay $24/night for SELF parking outdoors seems kind of outrageous to me. While I drive around there is NO parking available. So after driving around 3 or 4 times, I go to the kiosk parking guy and he told me to go to valet and they'd give me a discounted valet rate. Awesome. so I drive up and the lady, wish I got her name, gave me this attitude about I should have went to the North parking lot after looking through the South lot. FIRST OF ALL, I drove around a billion times in that lot lady. And there's NO signs telling me drive to the NORTH lot if I can't find parking at a hotel that I'M staying at. Plus I shouldn't have to have such a difficult time finding parking in the first place. Any way, she gave me the self parking price at the end of it. Just wish she didn't have to give me so much attitude.

Other than that, Marco P, a service guy in the lobby, was nice enough to try to get us hookups for a some club/lounges we wanted to hit up in Gas Lamp. And the concierge lady, (I wish I remember her name!) was nice enough to find some Mexican restaurants to hit up for lunch on Sunday and gave us a map and all.

Food: The hotel had their own small store with souvenirs and overpriced snacks just like any other hotel. I grabbed some yogurt and fruit from their Starbucks, which had a small sitting area looking over the pool. For a late night snack I had some Chicken Sliders ($12 for 3 with french fries) at their Lobby Lounge. The sliders had lettuce and spicy mayo and fried chicken breast. Unfortunately they forgot to put in the dill pickle. The food was only a 3 to me. It tasted pretty bland and the spicy mayo wasn't even spicy. The fries were alright and I did like their crunchy again. Was it worth $12? No.

So would I ever come back? The location is pretty awesome and I guess I would... just on a sunnier day.

This is the view from the Marriott Marquis. Downtown San Diego has amazing view from here that's why I love this hotel.
