goods, fruits, vegetables and dairy products. To help make locally grown food accessible, the farmers market has multiple locations, including Portland State University, Shemanski Park and the Buckman/Sunnyside neighborhood. Vendors at the farmers markets accept Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program benefits to help low-income residents eat better. Thanks to the Fresh Exchange, SNAP participants get an extra $5 in matching funds to spend at the market.

Tons of selection on the vast PSU campus. It's a lot more tastier than the Saturday market. Samples galore

Portlanders love this market. I love the one in Lake Oswego in the summer time. Great organic local fruits and vegetables.

Portland Farmers Market is a nonprofit organization operating seven farmers markets in Portland, Oregon, United States. The markets provide a direct connection to more than 200 vendors with deep roots in Oregon and Southwest Washington, including farms, nurseries, bakeries, meat and seafood providers, cheese makers and specialty food producers.[1] The flagship market at Portland State University was named the best farmers market in the United States for its size, varied offerings, live entertainment, weekly cooking demos, and more, by Bravo TV.[2] The same market was ranked #2 in the country for its number of vendors, amount of local, seasonal produce, year-round live music, the market managers' consideration of every detail, and making the most of what the region has to offer by supporting local farmers, by The Daily Meal.[3]

The organization's mission is to operate world-class farmers markets that contribute to the success of local food growers and producers, and create vibrant community gatherings. The organization's vision and values include access to farm fresh food for all residents, sustainability, and organizational integrity.[4]

During peak season, the markets serve up to 30,000 shoppers each week. Market programming includes Kids Cook at the Market, where kids learn about the seasonality of food, meet local farmers, and prepare ingredients purchased fresh at the market,[5] and Chef in the Market, where Portland’s top chefs and Portland Farmers Market vendors celebrate height-of-the-season market ingredients as they educate and inspire home cooks with cooking demonstrations.[6]

Portland Farmers Market was established in 1992 and held its first market in the parking lot of Alber's Mill along the Willamette River that year. This allowed Portlanders, who once had to settle for markets in the suburbs or traveling to the farms themselves, easier access to farm fresh produce.[7] In 2016, Portland Farmers Market celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Only open Saturday's and Sunday's, great experience though especially for getting gifts and for people with young children.

Hands down the best farmer's market I've ever seen! All natural, high quality vendors most with samples! The market has very high standards and only accepts a few new stands out of approximately one thousand applicants each year. The most incredible variety of meats, cheeses and produce. Also, prepared foods, deserts, jams, sauces, soups and so much more. Great selection and variety! For a slightly different special treat check out Heidi Ho's vegan cheeses made with all natural ingredients and have great taste! The best vegan cheese I've ever had!

The biggest (and best) Farmer's Market I've ever been to. Located on the Portland State University Campus, it's easily accessible by bus + walking if you're a visitor without a car.

You can sample almost everything here, and can probably get full by doing so, but the bustling food vendors in the back will need some space in your stomach too!

LOTS of fresh produce, flowers, and various vendors make up this enjoyable Saturday morning visit. I was able to pick up some charcuterie meats from the famous Olympic Provisions as well.

I could spend the whole day here if I didn't have other things on my itinerary to get to. One of my favorite activities is to leisurely stroll local farmer's markets and sample and this is absolutely the best I've been to.

It's very much a family-friendly event and I appreciate their green practices as well. They have a section for diners to return their dishware and cutlery so that it can be washed and re-used. How cool is that?!

Beautiful campus, beautiful market. In love! :)

This is one of the nicer farmer's markets I've been to. There are a ton of different vendors selling local goods, produce, meat and cheese. It's located on the campus of Portland State University in a really quaint neighborhood with older houses and big trees.

The flower stands are pretty impressive with huge bouquets of super colorful peonies. I recommend seeking out Olympia Provisions for salami and Haute Sauces for a different take on hot sauces.

My fav farmer's market in PDX is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday except during the winter. Get there early to avoid crowds and get the best stuff!

Loved this market! I visited on Halloween and there was a pumpkin carving contest and kids in the most adorable costumes. Be sure to drop by Pine State Biscuits and order the Reggie Deluxe with a little apple butter on the side.

Loved this farmers market - bursting with fresh veggies, fruits and all the people that take pride in providing this to the community, I very much enjoyed walking around and sampling, and buying a few items, like some artisanal salami and chocolates. I love that they also provide water coolers around the area, so you can refill your water bottle if you get thirsty. So considerate!

I spent my time having farmers' market envy. Wished I had a kitchen and lots of people to cook for. Afraid the hotel wouldn't allow me to use their kitchen. Fresh artichokes, blackberries the size of a silver dollar, bushel baskets of basil, heirloom tomatoes, charentais melons, fresh salmon, chevre, local distillery spirits, local bread...

Vibrant and colorful, this outdoor market should not be missed. Go hungry and dine from one of the vendors as you choose your fresh groceries for your stay at the PDXromance during those days that you feel like cooking or grilling.

Local produce artfully stacked in booth after booth, fresh cheeses, meats, breads. Live music typically at the city's largest farmers market. An array of food booths lets you whet your appetite so as to stay longer to enjoy the eye-candy of the market.
