This adorable B&B is the type of place I would recommend to a friend looking for a simple, cosy place to lay her head while on a trip to Portland. It's on a quiet suburban street near a "cool" part of town and is close to the number 15 bus line if you need to get downtown. The rooms are good for two but have daybeds that would be suitable for a younger child. The owner is very sweet and she has an adorable, energetic little dog. There's also a sunny common room with books and a fridge that can be used by all the guests. Best of all (for me, at least), the breakfast here is vegan! And if you must have meat at breakfast, you can go out to eat instead and ask for a discounted rate (at the owners' discretion).

The only cons are that there's a shared bathroom, but it's still a great value.

Charming, charming, charming! The Cherokee Rose Inn is owned and operated by the very sweet, Sandy Miller. There are two rooms in this self billed vegan B&B and the decor throughout is simply delightful. There rooms are named the Wolf room and the Eagle room and both are large in size and great for families with kids. There is a large living room downstairs as well as a large kitchen. A piano is located in front of the house for your playing pleasure. On the second level of the home where the rooms are is also a small community/hang out type of room with chairs, a couch, bookshelves with books, and a TV. Sandy does have a small dog in the home, so be aware of that in case it's a concern for you. She also doesn't allow other pets. The home is lovely and homey and also in a great location--walking distance to both Burnside and Hawthorne streets and neighborhoods.

This Inn fits the neighborhood and this is a cool area to walk around with out many other hotels. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and boutiques in this area. Belmont, 28th, Stark, and Burnside are all nice areas to walk around that are also easy to access public transportation from. There are just two rooms in this house with cute little porcelain animals over the doors. The decor is pretty typical B and B, and the house is pretty typical of the area. It's large with hard wood floors, a big porch and a porch swing. I'm not huge on B and B's, but because this one only has two rooms, it's pretty private. The living room is comfortable and the neighborhood is great. The GoodFoot is only a couple blocks away and is a nice place for a beer or happy hour food, and there are shows there, too.

If you like B&B’s to have an unobtrusive character, fewer banal trinkets adorning every possible space, an owner who is warm and welcoming but not familiar, then this one hundred year old Inn is for you!

Set close-in SE Portland on Alder quite close to many stores and cafés along busy Belmont Street, the Inn is perfectly placed for the tourist to explore Portland by foot or bus including easy reach of downtown.

The Inn has two lovely rooms without bathrooms, so unfortunately you need to share a bathroom. Other common areas of the house are available for guests to meet and relax. Amenities such as wifi, the use of the kitchen, and a Vegan breakfast are included in the rate.

Despite all the charm of this Inn – and there is a lot of it, I feel the room rate is overpriced especially as guests are required to share a bathroom.

If you really enjoy B&B’s then I would recommend trying the Cherokee Rose on your next visit to Portland!
