Phuket town is popular and crowded, many tourists came here have vacation and like to strolling and shopping. Most of the Chinese Thai are believed came from Fujian, China. They believed in Goddess and prayed very sincerely during Chinese 9th month of Lunar Calender. There will be a very big festival here.

I've been in Thailand for 6 weeks and I've been 2 days in Phuket town, I actually didn't like it, it's a bit too touristic for my preferences but if you're looking for nightlife and bars, this is the right place for you! There are a lot of activities to do, I did the Bungee Jumping in Patong Beach, but you can also do Snorkeling or visit temples!

A bit boring, nothing here to see really. Head to Patong for more life, better restaurants, a beach and a much nicer place. We did after 1 night.

Phuket Town is a jewel and only 15 minutes from Coconut Island by 3 minute boat and 12 minute taxi ride.
See Old Chinatown with cafes, cute international restaurants, souvenir shops, clothing stores, Thai handmade products.
Evenings offer fine international restaurants and pubs and discos that offer a range from rock and roll to beautiful acoustic live music.

I did not have many expectations about this city, maybe this is why i enjoyed so much. Few tourists, a calm small city, with great sino-portuguese architecture everywhere. Some nice bars and caffes.

You have to go to the Market and see all the stalls. If you find anything you like, make you bargain. Whatever price they say, make sure you pay 20-25% of that, less even better. Also there's a lot of food to offer, I had some fried banana and boy was it good and it was cheap. I believe I paid $0.75CDN. Seafood is also excellent tasting, you could also bargain for that. The shrimps we had we're huge. So make sure you try that.
