Park City Hotel Insider
Skiing and the arts are probably the two most iconic characteristics of Park City, which has attracted celebrities and movie fans from all over the world for its stunning landscapes. Unlike most other destinations, winter is Park City’s busiest and most crowded time of year, luring snow sports enthusiasts, cabin-dwelling lovers, and filmmakers (for the Sundance Film Festival). The city is also energetic in summer, but resorts and cabins fill up far in advance when the mountains are white.

Park City Hotels
There are plenty of luxurious hotels in Park City, offering cozy and lavish retreats from the snow - or catering to the big name celebs who stay in the area. The Waldorf Astoria in Park City is particularly extravagant, with each guest appointed his or her own personal concierge, and elegant guestrooms that offer the warmth and flair of a mountain lodge. Hotel Park City offers unobstructed mountain views from every room, triple-head nozzles in the showers, and jet tubs. The Grand Summit Hotel and Sundial Lodge at Canyons Resort are other great options in the area, each with elegant furnishings and deeply comfortable amenities. If you fancy a Victorian four-poster bed and fireplace in your room, try Newpark Resort.

Celebrities and wealthy resort dwellers aren’t the only ones who visit Park City, and there are plenty of great accommodation choices for those with tighter budgets. The Chateaux at Silver Lake is French-inspired and close to the major slopes and the Deer Valley shops, but the real draw is their kids-under-18-stay-free policy (and the whole family will enjoy the live guitar in their ski lounge every evening.) Westgate Park City Resort & Spa has an arcade and a kids club, as well as adults-only amenities for Mom and Dad to escape, while Bear Hollow Village’s apartment-style lodging offers privacy for all members of the family. Their distance from the slopes and the action is forgiven by their better bang-for-your-buck accommodations.

Things To Do
While the first thing that comes to mind is skiing when trying to plan things to do in Park City, there are plenty of options that don’t involve snow. Sure, be sure to hit the slopes at Canyon Ski Resort and Deer Valley, but make time for activities that don’t require a pair of wooden slabs strapped to your feet. Gorgoza Park is a great place to bring the kids, as you can go tubing and sledding here. The Utah Olympic Park was the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, and you can use the alpine slide, zip lines, or ropes course, then head over to the onsite restaurant for a hot meal.

If you really want to ditch the snow, don’t miss the annual midwinter Sundance Film Festival (a draw for both film and nightlife fans, as the whole city lights up for the festival.) Discerning whiskey aficionados will love a tour of the High West Distillery, while hipsters and art fans of all ages will love the free Kimball Art Center and its monthly exhibits. The Sky Lodge is practically next door, a hip and modern boutique with a perfect blend of funk and luxury: try the comfort food with a twist at their restaurant (we’re talking lobster mac and cheese), a spa treatment complete with a soak in a Japanese ofuro tub (and traditional Japanese tea service), or a swim in their lap pool...complete with underwater sound system.
