Niagara Falls City (Ontario) Vacations

One half the border straddles New York, the other Canada, but it's the Canadian side which is usually considered to have the better view of the Falls as well as a more well developed downtown area nearby. It's safe to say you'll want to skip the barrel ride these days, but that doesn't mean you won't be plenty busy. There's many options available ... Read more

The views of Niagara Falls never cease to amaze me. Riding bikes down the Niagara Parkway is a great way to explore the area.

Ok it’s more like a 3.5 stars but definitely not a 4.
Niagara Falls was a nice town. The Horseshoe Falls was amazingly beautiful and I would definitely go back. But the town had that weird vibe to it. There’s an IMAX theatre, the Niagara Falls Museum and a few other very small attractions. I could have done it all in a day and a half, it was very underwhelming. The IMAX is soooooo old, I’m sure Google has more information than the movie does.
Basically Niagara Falls is beautiful but it’s not somewhere you wanna stay, more of a place to pass through.

Beautiful and powerful falls, must visit if you're in Ontario Canada. You can feel the power of the falls from above. Must bring raincoat with you even not taking the boat ride.

Best side to view the Niagara Falls. Better than the New York state side. The park across the falls is also beautiful with the falls as background.

Niagara Falls is a fantastic destination location filled with something for everyone. The atmosphere is electric and the diverse group of people that come congregate there are lovely. At the majestic falls, 150,000 gallons of water gush down per second. To see the sight in person is absolutely breath-taking.

For a more romantic trip, there are a broad range of dinning options, several wine tasting tours, horseback riding tours and top-notch music/theater options.

For the family, kids have great attractions like Waves Indoor Water Park, Marine Land (hosting whales, dolphins and sea lions), Safari Niagara (showcasing primates, giraffes, cats and hippos) and Rolph's Bird Sanctuary (featuring ducks, swans and geese).

For nightlife there is 24/7 gaming, concerts and nightclubs. For the thrill seekers there are helicopter rides, skydiving, go karts and jet boat rides.

We purchased tickets for the Horn Blower Tour, the Butterfly Conservatory and the Bird Sanctuary. One day we did a fun horseback riding tour that was exhilarating and relaxing. We stayed at the Marriott Gateway which has extremely close views of the falls. During the stay, a lovely couple gave us tickets for a wine tasting tour for which they were unable to partake.

The highlight of our trip was riding our bikes along the Falls embracing the beauty and power of the natural wonder. On River Road, where the falls are located, lies Cham Shan Temple, which showcases Buddhist artifacts and statues. Luckily, it was off season and we had the whole property to ourselves. We took some absolutely magical pictures with all of the great statues and intricate architecture.

We fell in love with so much of the natural wonders that we ran out of time to take advantage of all the touristy options. However, we did find some great bed and breakfast options off of River Road which may be perfect for our next trip.

This is definitely a fun touristy place to get lost in but with a little research, luck and tenacity Niagara Falls can be much, much more. For more information and details check out

A significant world wonder surrounded by an Atlantic City type environment. The views and activities are spectacular, while the nightlife, dining and accommodations are terrible. Nonetheless, still worth a trip to experience the Falls.

Spent one night and one day visiting the Canadian side of the falls. The falls are spectacular and there are many attractions around the falls for great vantage points. Definitely recommend bringing a good camera for all the wonderful shots. We visited in late - April and the weather was still fairly chilly. Be aware that there are a few parking lots for the falls but all are paid parking. If at all possible park farther away and use the Go bus system which stops at all attractions. It was too early in the season to take the beyond the mist tour, but would absolutely recommend the falls to anyone in the area!
