Monterrey Vacations

Ringed by jagged mountain peaks and cast in the shadow of the imposing Cerro de la Silla ( or "Saddle Mountain"), Monterrey is city of burgeoning industrial growth set to a backdrop of spectacular natural beauty. The third largest city in Mexico is a place of stark contrasts. Elegant colonial structures stand nobly alongside modern monuments, ... Read more
seemingly sprouting like mushrooms in response to the city's prosperity as the commercial center for the north of the country. Likewise, ostentatious wealth coincides with rampant air pollution as, much like L.A., the mountains that provide so much character to the city, also trap in its fumes. Hot and dry, visit the impressive Macroplaza of this “Sultana del Norte" with sun screen, but no umbrella. Cheer on the Rayados in a fútbol match at Estadio Tecnológico, hit the town for a live club show of one the city's acclaimed "Norteño" bands, and bring your briefcase, because Monterrey is one of Latin America's most important cities for big business.

Mexico! A wonderful country with wonderful people. And the food? Even better! Great city if you want a modern atmosphere with a mix of culture. Eat all the tacos you can!

Monterrey is the best place to go to shopping and enjoy some time with friends and family. The best place to visit will be Parque Fundidora.

It's very unfortunate that this city and the region surrounding it have seen such a rise of violence in the past few years. Monterrey is a modern, hospitable city with lots to see, amazing natural beauty and great food

Monterrey, along with Guadalajara, are the nicest cities in Mexico. It's a shame that there is so much violence between the various narco Mexican drug gangs. The day we left Monterrey last year, 39 people were killed in a Monterrey Casino by narco drug gangs.

One of my favorites places to visit in Mexico. A great place to buy shoes and leather goods. I love the food of Nuevo Leon and in particular the El Rey Restaurant who specialize in cabrito which is to die for. Just hanging out on the main shopping street on the weekends is a great experience. It's to bad the drug cartel violence has spilled over into this wonderful city. Nearby is Saltillo which is a great city to visit on a day trip and to visit the the nearby vernicular and caverns.

This city is the capital of Nuevo Leon most recognized like ( translated ) " the chair of the mountain" "El cerro de la silla " Beautiful places to go and lots of artesanias. Artifacts hand made by these Mexican people.

This is my hometown so this review is heavily biased.

Monterrey is a great place to live and grow up. Don't know if it is that great for a tourist since it's not close to the beaches

If you are going here stay at a hotel in San Pedro close to the Calzada del Valle. This main street is closed on Sundays to cars and becomes a paradise to run/walk/bike.

I recommend a vist to the soccer stadiums so you can see how passionate are people about soccer here.

As for restaturants I recommend the Granero Grill (awesome food and ambiance) on the pricey side and on the cheap side any taqueria in the Centrito.
Right now it's a bit dicey to go given the whole drug war going on so be careful.
