Madison, the capital of Wisconsin, is anything but cheesy. Rather, it's a small city with more than its share of creative, educated people, theater, great restaurants, and youthful energy. Situated on 5 lakes and with easy access to nature, Madison has the attractions of city and country in one. The downtown hotels are mainly the big chains, but ... Read more
who cares when the restaurants are eclectic and so is the culture? Home to the University of Wisconsin Madison, the student population certainly helps to keep up the vibrant energy, but professionals, artists, musicians, and families all do their bit in creating this city's mix of bike trails, theater, and nightlife.

Regardless if you're building your private home or renovating, you could turn it into a solar power efficient home by making a few simple adjustments to your plan. If electricity and gas become hard to manage you may want to considerheating your homewith the sunlight. Solar technology is energythat comesfrom the sun's rays. When it reaches the earth it propagates evenly but you may need it to go to a certain location in your home.

Madison is a quaint capitol city. It is very walkable with easy access from the state house to the lake shore. There are biking and running paths around the lake to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

We've been to Madison a few times, as well as it being a stop-over point if we are on our way through going to other places. While I can't say that there is anything truly unique about Madison--it has the same sorts of things that other similar-sized cities have, it's still worth checking it out.

I visited in the late spring when the city is full of warmth and sunshine with a nice breeze blowing off the lakes. I loved the availability of walking/biking trails and the well-maintained beauty of the area around the capital building. Very nice!

If you dont have a specific reason to be here just keep driving. An old area, and by no means aesthetically pleasing. From start to finish it is outdated. The University of Wisconsin and the Capital building call it home.

Great college town and Wisconsin's capital. Unique sights to see and plenty to do all four seasons, indoors and out.

Eclectic town! Old beautiful buildings, all types of people, amazing food and shops! If you're a free spirit you will love it! Best part is Orpheum Theatre!

Madison is a strange town. It gets a lot of buzz and attracts interesting people, but it has so little to offer. I'm constantly disappointed in what it considers "best" and "good". I don't mind that so much as pity the people who let the town have such low standards.

With 5 surrounding lakes and The University of Wisconsin-Madison, there is something going on year-round in this college town. Plenty of bike paths and activities to keep you entertained.
