impressive Victorian buildings left in Los Angeles. Lewis L. Bradbury commissioned the building in 1892 and the structure was completed in 1893. Bradbury wanted his building to be unconventional and hired draftsman George Wyman as a designer. Wyman was reluctant to take the offer at first but a conversation with his dead brother through a Ouija board changed his mind. Wyman's design was inspired by the 1887 science fiction book Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy. The final result was an architectural masterpiece that includes oak paneling, wrought-iron railings, open-cage elevators and a glass roof.

Great funky architecture, and the location for many a movie, including, memorably, Blade Runner

Unimpressive from the outside, the inside is a little more interesting. While slightly interesting and maybe worth seeing once, I don't know if I would go out of my way to see this. I am told that the inside of the building was designed to be futuristic (at the time it was built) and to be an idea of what the year 2000 would be like.

Two words: Blade Runner. They used this iconic building for a big scene in that film. Step inside and you'll see why the striking design of Bradbury Building's interior is so desirable. Read about the history of its construction outside; it's no less interesting.

Beautiful place. Takes you back to another time. General visitors can enjoy the ground floor and landing up to second floor only.

Definitely a pretty place and a cool place to see just to say you've been. Lots of movies have been filmed there but there isn't anything to do inside except take a pic.

What can I say about the iconic Bradbury Building that hasn't already been said? I first visited the building when I was in high school touring the streets of Downtown Los Angeles with the LA Conservancy Walking Tour. The Bradbury Building was commissioned by Lewis Bradbury in 1892 and completed after his death in 1893. It is considered LA's oldest landmarked building and one of four office buildings holding the distinction of National Historic Landmark. The exterior of the 5-story building isn't very remarkable but the interior transports you back to the late 19th century. Once inside, the architecture reveals itself and it is quite remarkable. The wrought iron grill work and bird cage elevators are distinctive. The Bradbury Building is featured as a setting in TV, films, and literature; Blade Runner, 500 Days of Summer, & The Artist to name a few.

Tourists are welcome to visit this landmark but are not permitted above the first floor landing as to not to disturb the office tenants currently in the building. The building is accessible by LA Metro Red line and is located near Grand Central Market, Angels Flight, and the Million Dollar Theater.

This is the oldest, active commercial building in central Los Angeles. Not much to look at from the outside it has an amazing interior - a sun bathed inner court with bird-cage elevators, marble paneling, ironwork and Mexican floor tiles. It has been featured in many movies including Blade Runner and Double Indemnity.

New YORK!

Movie magic! This place is so, so beautiful inside. It's probably best known as a set for Bladerunner, but has been used for a bunch of other movies and TV shows. The interior atrium goes all the way up, surrounded by intricate filigree cast-iron staircases and railings. So glad I got to see this place IRL.

A must see stop if you are in Downtown LA. Don't let the outside stop you from going in. It's AMAZING inside.

What you see is VERY VERY gorgeous, but there just isn't much to see as all the floors are restricted except for the ground floor. Visitors cannot go up the stairs and they cannot open doors either as it's still a commercial building. But man, walking into the building will take your breath away.

Built in 1893 by the mining billionaire Bradbury, this building represent an architectural landmark in LA. It is in Downtown and its architecture feature an Italian Renaissence Revival style. There is a big atrium in the center naturally lit. Ornamental iron, polished wood and rich marble make this building luxurious and fascinating. It is nowadays the headquarter of the police department.

If you are a fan of architecture, this is highly recommended - hands down the most interesting building in Los Angeles. The inside of the building is something that came out of Orson Welles' imagination. Go around mid - day to late afternoon; at this time you will be able to see the sunlight fliter through 2 feet of a special marble that was imported from South America (Argentina I believe) at the time it was built - providing a glowing effect. A building designed for the future in the late 1800s.
