Just on the southeast edge of Los Angeles is the port city of Long Beach. Easily accessible to the rest of L.A. and with a large immigrant population which makes it one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America, Long Beach isn't known as being a tourist city, but it has several extremely popular tourist attractions. Go back in time on the ... Read more
Queen Mary passenger ship or visit residents of the Pacific Ocean at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Wander its Belmont Shore neighborhood around Second Street, where bars, shops and nightlife reign. Restaurants reflect the population, with offerings from American to Vietnamese to Mexican. Most of the big chain hotels also have outposts.

Summer brings crowds to Los Angeles, booking up hotels along the coast and restaurants in the city. From September to May the area is less crowded, and the air less smoggy, though you may encounter the hot, dry ... Read more
Santa Ana winds. Headed to the beach? Don't go in June when the 'June Gloom' makes the beaches cold and foggy for most of the morning. The coast is always a bit cooler than inland (head to Santa Monica and not Hollywood if you want a breeze). Whatever time of year you go, however, you can leave your down coat at home.

A Los Angeles stepchild, Long Beach is perhaps best known for the Queen Mary but does also have a world class port, some respectable shopping areas and a dog friendly beach area that unfortunately isn't much of a beach.

Long beach is a biggest beach community in SoCal but often overlook is because there are no actual beach here but a lot other thing such as the cruise line, port and a lot private boats. It is less crowded and isn't as popular as other beach and is a good thing.

Went to this place during the pirate and mermaid festival at night. Didn't spend a whole lot of time here because it was very crowded. I am sure my experience would have been a lot more fun if I had gone during the day as well...

As a Long Beach native, it's hard not to love "the City by the Sea." Long Beach is very culturally diverse. Here, you can get a bowl of Pho, drive down the street to get mouth watering tacos, make a right and get a vegan dish, stop off at a luxury restaurant or feast among the food trucks! Long Beach is home to stars like Snoop Dogg, Cameron Diaz and Nicholas Cage. It hosts schools including Cal State Long Beach, LB Polytechnic and LB Wilson High. The strand on the beach invites runners, bikers and skaters to stay active and enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze. In Long Beach, the waves mild because of the water break outside of the local boat port, making lots of fun for families and kids. Long Beach has something for everyone, from the young high school or college student, to families, even something for well seasoned couples looking for something relaxing. Long Beach welcomes all.

Long beach has its days. The sunsets are gorgeous and there is a myriad of things to do both during the day and at night.
