I visit Oahu every year in December and decided to stay at the Moana Surfrider this year. It was amazing! I will be back next year. Great location, awesome beach, and perfect spot in between two local surf spots. Hotel staff couldn't be nicer!

The oldest hotel located in the heart of Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider is still stunning and glamorous just like the first day it opened in 1901. From the grand driveway entrance, to the open lobby that leads you to their famous courtyard and steps to the beach, it captures your attention and love like no other hotel. It is also popular for many wedding couples wanting their reception at a hotel with high class and service. Book a stay at the Moana Surfrider and you'll fall in love with the hotel and Hawaii!

A wonderful property with a great location that is very central. The beach is fantastic, there is plenty of dining and shopping nearby, and most activity providers pick up here.

The Moana Surfrider is in the heart of the Honolulu action. The resort backs up right onto Waikiki beach, and faces Kalakaua Avenue. It's located 9 miles from Honolulu International Airport, and with a location as such, no car is really needed, aside from to/from the airport. The property itself was built 1901. Over one hundred years later and countless renovations and refurbishments in-between, the property still feel new, with a touch of the old classy self. We were first situated in an upgraded room which had a stellar view of the beach, whilst the room was very cramped. We called down to have our room changed, so "downgraded" to a room with less of a view and it turned out to be double the size and the toilet had a bidet. A BIDET! Love bidets. It even had a balcony. The beach is in the back on the main level, a brisk short walk with plenty of beach space to lay out. All the service staff from the bellhop to the beach guys were more than amazing. I would recommend anyone to choose the Westin Moana on their visit.

Beautiful Moana Surfrider nestled in Waikiki's beaches was the venue for earlier this evenings event as we attended Natalie Ai Kamauu's CD release performance held free to first come attendees. This hauntingly beautiful resort now owned by Westin was one of the original hotels establishment on Waikiki. Today it holds numerous functions from weddings to musical performances. The cost is luxurious to pay for scenic view , beautiful architect , exceptional service and historic significance. You can't misd this resort on Waikiki main road of Kalakaua as it resemblance a southern mansion in busy modern Waikiki busy strip. But has a hauntinf reflection of past Waikiki.

What a gorgeous hotel right on the beach. Apparently, one of the first hotels that served high tea. The afternoon tea is incredible and the view of the beach in the patio is even more stunning. Make a visit here with girlfriends for an afternoon outing after the beach - such a cute and classy hotel!

It's a great hotel, right on the beach front! Which is good if you enjoy the surf too. There is not that much happening there though, it's nice and quiet and sometimes there are some musicians playing around the pool. The atmosphere is ok quite relaxed and good for couples more so than families with small children. The architecture is very old and there is a lot of history there.

The oldest hotel still standing on Waikiki Beach, the Moana Surfrider is always busy. Though the rooms seem under-sized and over-priced, I like dropping by for drinks and live music in the banyan tree courtyard and also to visit the historical exhibits upstairs on the second floor (free!).

"The First Lady of Waikiki" does not disappoint. The main outdoor area underneath the banyan tree is beautiful, relaxing and perfect to while away an afternoon (or evening).

We were upgraded as SPG Platinums and had an amazing stay. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, spacious (for Waikiki standards) and had a great lanai where we relaxed and watched the waves throughout the day.

The staff was very courteous, pleasant and went out of their way to accommodate us (given that we are now a family with a one-year old, we tend to be a bit of a handful these days).

My absolute Favorite Hotel in Honolulu. Set on the world renowned Waikiki Beach, it has the BEST Location in the city. I have stayed here several times... In basic rooms and the Penthouse. The Ocean Front rooms with the Diamond Head views are the way to go...IMHO. The reason for that is the balconies are large, have stunning views and the rooms are large and in the new section. The Historical Wing is nice but the rooms are tiny. They are the entry level rooms. If you dream of staying in the hotel and on a budget then that category is great. The hotel restaurant/bar is the Best In The City. Sipping a Mai Tai under the Banyan Tree is what I crave!!!

I'm just reviewing the spa. :)
The spa is a wonderful get away. It's PERFECTLY clean and completely tranquil. All treatments come with use of the lounge / sauna / hot tub / steam room. I have been disappointed by some Honolulu spas simply because they didn't have ALL the amenities . This spa DOES. There is also tea / snacks to enjoy and high end products in the showers. Bring your swim suit, The hot tub faces out ( ocean views ) so you do need to wear a swim suit to use the hot tub. Treatments are a little pricy but this is my fave spa out of 4 high end hotel spas that I've visited here , so I do recommend it.

i didn't stay here - i came here for evening drinks at the back area that seamlessly flows to the beach. what a great view! The drinks were pretty good and the hotel is centrally located near all the shopping area so it didn't feel too far to walk.

The ambiance, the settings here is so romantic. People flocks here even if they are not staying in this hotel. Most visitors use this hotel to get married or their backdrop for weeding photos.

From breakfast, dinner and their happy hours, all are excellent. This place is always alive no matter what time of day it is. And the view here is phenomenal.

I was really looking forward to staying at the Moana Surfrider. It's a historical building and has had a lot of great reviews.

But my experience was terrible.

I booked one of the nicer rooms in the historical part of the hotel. Late arrival, around 11 pm. I know that the last people to check in often get the loser rooms so we called ahead of time to tell them we'd be there late and to hopefully make sure they saved the room we booked.

When we arrived the staff was pleasant. The lobby was basically a party and was a little annoying, but hey it was a Saturday night. We checked in and got room 404. The front desk said they were 97% full.

The room was horrible. Really small, like cheap NY hotel small, and there's no way it was the 350 sq ft that was described while making the reservation. There was a couch with a lot of dried body fluids on it. Like, all over it. It was quite obvious what it was and that it hadn't been cleaned. The room was just dirty overall and really sad. A view of a ventilation shaft and a gravel roof.

The bellman brought our bags up, and made the joke "it's not quite how it looks on the Internet, is it?"

Went downstairs and asked for a different room. Anything at all. I'd be quite happy to pay any price for a suite or anything available since it was now midnight on a Saturday and we had nowhere to stay.

That 97% full comment was now 100% full, and the front desk quite politely told me there was nothing they could do. I said the room wasn't acceptable and I was leaving. I didn't even ask for a refund but they made sure to tell me that there wouldn't be one.

There are probably some nice rooms at this hotel and we were just really unlucky. But there's no way they should be renting that room out to anyone and I'll never consider staying there again.

I stay here at least once a year. Great spot on the beach. Beautiful, historical architecture; great staff with a true aloha vibe. Easy walk to anywhere in Waikiki. Historic wing was recently remodeled and the tower is more modern. I've stayed in both and they're both good. Will be back soon. Aloha!

My favorite location if I am in Waikiki. Great feel and charm. Excellent brunches. Fabulous views of Diamond Head.

Only negative was the high volume of street walkers on Kuhio and Kalakaua Ave at night, which was very noticeable if you walk to restaurants.

One of the nicest places I've stayed. It's not because of the amenities (which it has many) or location (perfectly situated on the famous honolulu beach with a perfect view of Diamond Head, but because it has managed to maintain is old world charm within the growth of Honolulu. It has a regal quality of a time gone by. The room we were in was a bit small, but you don't stay there for the rooms. An although it is the oldest place to stay on the beach it holds it's own on modern amenities and comfort.

I don't want to stay at any other place when I'm in Honolulu.
