Built in 1929, this is possibly the most famous hotel in the whole of Cuba. Back in the day, it was frequented by the likes of Winston Churchill and famous mobsters. These days, you’re more likely to find the humble tourist sitting by the pool. You can buy a drink and a cigar, enjoying both as you sit on the edge of the hotel’s cliff, peering out to the ocean. You don’t need to be staying here to enter, and it’s worth a visit just to see the former glamour of Cuba’s more prosperous times.

The cocktails are wonderful. Spent too many afternoons sipping on Pina Coladas people watching. Also, when Internet access was down in other parts of the city, the Nacional was usually up and running

Very cool place, great for a drink, not sure if I'd want to stay there since its a little out of Old Havana
