The hotel is just fine. It's outdated and needs to be renovated. The staff is nice, but the service wasn't anything special. The good thing about this hotel is the location. It's in the city center and about a ten minute walk from the train station. It does the trick if you're just looking for a place to sleep .
Not a five star, but it got the job done. The hotel is outdated and I didn't find the people at reception were all that friendly (Felt like I was continuously bugging them when I asked for a taxi or if it would be safe if I walked around by myself in the neighbourhood). Out dated but clean, and decent beds. Right around the corner from a bunch of cash machines, restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs, but be weary - it's only a block away from the nightlife, and although I didn't hear anything when I went to bed (on the top floor), there's usually a bunch of people partying at all hours. About a 3-5 minute walk from the closest hop on/hop off bus stop (which I recommend doing to see the city) and a 18-25 minute walk from the city centre, so it's well worth the location.
Good Hotel, amazing staff, great rates and really well cared and clean rooms. The only things that i missed was those cute soap kits in the bathroom and face towels but for a budget hotel was pretty good.
The second of the Ibis Hotels we stayed at while on our Contiki tour of England and Scotland, the Ibis Glasgow has identical rooms to its counterpart in Liverpool. There are no travel sized amenities, just the standard giant bottle of soap that serves as shampoo, body wash, and hand soap. Two bath towels are provided, no face or hand towels. There is a hair dryer provided, small flat screen TV, coffee and tea bar, along with a decent sized room. The bathroom still looks like a spaceship pod with a large shower. The furniture is standard cookie cutter. Free wifi is provided which is a huge plus. The queen bed was comfortable and the breakfast was standard English/Scottish breakfast. The hotel is just south of Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow and walking distance to the main shopping square. We were able to walk from the hotel to the Glasgow Cathedral in about 20 minutes. They have buses but if you can walk it and it isn't raining, why not? It's located next to a Novotel hotel.
