Guests have stayed just to attend this huge festival... you will be so happy my place is 20 to 30 degrees cooler than Gilroy in the summer.

Love garlic? This is the place! Three days in July, for the last twenty-five years or so, the Gilroy Garlic Association has run the festival a la garlic.
There are over 100 vendors selling their wares from jewelry to children's clothing to yard stakes to soap.
As for the food, well, get ready for garlic-laced everything. From calamari to ice cream.
They have an annual cook-off on a big stage and sometimes celebrities get involved. They have Gourmet Alley where you'll find the Pyro Chefs cooking up the main meals of the weekend.
Looking for something with a garlic twist? The Garlic Mercantile just might have it.
It's definitely a thing to experience, but going for the whole three days may just be over doing it--unless you are one of those garlic-deficient people.

I love all kinds of food festivals!! This was my first time at the gilroy garlic festival, and it definitely was INTENSE.

Pros:
- Garlic stuffed mushrooms
- Garlic kettle corn!
- Tents for shade and free water

Cons:
- The weather was way too hot on sat. A man had to be carried out on a stretcher
- Traffic/waiting to finally get to the parking lot (TERRIBLE)
- Port-o-potties are NASSTTYYYY

Overall, it's definitely worth a trip out here at least once. I may go next yr, depending on how the weather is. I didn't even get to check out half the stuff here because we just couldn't take the heat anymore. With so many people there and wanting to pass out from the heat, it's definitely a little hard to stay for hours. We only lasted one!

IF YOU DO GO, make sure to go EARLY!!!

I love garlic. I could put it on most anything, so I had to try the garlic ice cream. Was it good? Sure, it wasn't bad, but I don't think I could handle a whole cup of it. The food at the Gilroy Garlic Festival is good, though you have to pay for all of it. Traffic is a bit annoying getting in and out of the fairgrounds.

Well, if you haven't tried it, you might as well try it once right? Luckily for me, I didn't hit traffic until the last 5 miles or so. Granted I came on a Sunday (last day of the festival), but regardless it was pretty easy to find parking.

Nothing you wouldn't expect to see at a garlic festival...crab garlic fries, garlic kettlecorn, garlic ice cream, you get the idea. Luckily, it wasn't a scorcher when I went! And if you want a couple bucks off your admission ticket, buy them online before you go!

Summer garlic festival is AMAZING. Multiple live bands playing music, craft vendors and of course FOOD. There are also wine and beer vendors to make it a complete party. Consider taking Caltrain to avoid the traffic and parking issues.

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is an annual event that pays homage to one of the country’s most popular cooking ingredients while raising money for charity. Among the highlights of this Bay Area staple is the regularly featured garlic ice cream. The popular dessert is made with a vanilla or honey base, and then garlic is added in. Want a topping for your garlic ice cream? We hear it goes great with some salted garlic flakes.

Garlic Calamari, Garlic-Stuffed Mushrooms, Garlic Fries, Garlic Sweet Potato Fries, Garlic Bread, Kangaroo and Gater on a Stick, Garlic Ice Cream Cone, and Garlie Pecan Pralines Ice Cream in a cantaloupe bowl!!! Yummy! Garlicy!!! Need Scope mouthwash! Today was Green Garlic Day at the Gilroy Garlic Festival!

GOOD: excellent variety of garlic-flavored foods
BAD: horrible traffic to and from

Get there early so you can enjoy the garlic adventure more!
