If you visit Fairbanks at winter. Visit Chena Hot Springs resort. Experience the below zero dip at hot springs and at night experience the northern lights.

World famous Chena Hot Springs attract tourists from all over the world. As for cleanliness, overall facilities and accommodation, it gets 3 to 3.5 stars compared to Blue Lagoon which gets 5 stars in my book.

I rated this 5 star not because it is luxurious, but because it was a 5 star experience. We went in January during a cold spell when it was 45 below zero. There wasn't much we could do outside, so we didn't get to experience the dog sleds or cross country skiing, but we did get to travel in a snowcat to a nearby yurt to stay warm as we waited for the Northern Lights to make their appearance. And you MUST experience the hot springs, which we did every night we were there. The water temp is 106 degrees while the outdoor temp was 45 below zero. It was exhilarating. And the owner of the resort is very environmentally conscious, so he is working towards making everything self-sustaining, including a greenhouse (yes, in Fairbanks Alaska)!

Really nice if you like hot springs. Hotel can be expensive but springs are reasonable. We RV'd and the RV spot was reasonable. The ice museum is unusual and fun, splurge on the martini. Far away from any city lights so if lucky, Northern Lights would be great here.

One of the factors that tends to scare people away from the Northern Lights trek
is the bitter cold. So where better to enjoy the show than a luxurious hot spring? Chena Resort in Alaska offers cozy soaks in their natural hot springs and even an Aurora alarm system throughout the resort to tell you when to grab your cameras.

This place is great to go to with friends or a romantic anniversary.

It is almost towards the middle of nowhere and doesn't have many carriers available. Expect to be stranded and one with nature!

I came here for my birthday during snow fall and it was absolute heaven.

I would give it 5 stars but the rooms aren't that great.

There is SO much to do in this location.

- hot springs surrounded by gorgeous snow capped mountains (in the winter)
- ice bar with martini glass made out of ice!
- trails to walk

and the best part…

a viewing outlook house for the AURORA BOREALIS!!! A MUST. Definitely go during high season.

I highly recommend coming here during peak seasons in the winter.

Very nice drive to the Chena Hot Springs, a must do attraction while in the area, go out and soak in the outdoor pool while viewing the auroras, during early morning 8am - 11am, or evening 4pm - 12midnight or later. While there, visit the Ice Hotel; inside all made from ice. Or just go during the day (one hour drive) for a beautiful Winter drive and eat at their wonderful restaurant with all the Alaskan favorites!
