dune lakes. With more than 40 percent of Walton County's total acreage dedicated to preservation, hikers and bicyclists can enjoy more than 200 miles of trails through state forests. The whole family will love the shops and restaurants in popular Destin Commons, while the Village Wharf is worth a look and a window-shop (or more.)

(gasp!), as temperatures really drop at night. The high season begins in April and lasts throughout the dog days of summer when rising temperatures and high humidity make a dip in the Gulf of Mexico seem pretty enticing. The height of the event calendar falls during this time, but do bring a poncho, as afternoon thunderstorms are common from June to September.

It was beautiful and lots to do. However, you had to pay to get in/ out and it was ridiculously busy with limited beach space due to the "private beaches"

Destin will WOW you with it's snow white sand, emerald green waters, laid back vibe, eclectic shopping, nightlife, restaurants and activities. Best of all the area is an "up and coming" LGBT hot spot, especial among gay families. There aren't any gay exclusive nightclubs, but the overall vibe is one of acceptance.

Destin, Florida is a small fishing villiage in the Florida panhandle, snuggled up against the Gulf of Mexico. Quite simply, Destin has the most beatiful shoreline of pristine white sand and emerald-hued water that I have seen in my travels.

Destin is the spring break vacation hub for most southern colleges and high schools. The summer is always packed with families and vacationing students. The beaches are among the nicest in the world and the water is great for swimming.
