and peninsulas, which afford a multitude of soft, sandy beaches along the beautifully blue Mediterranean Sea. After all, it's among the finest in the world and has established Crete as one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. And, of course, the island's historic importance in today's world as the home of the Minoan civilization with important archeological finds at Knossos, Phaistos and Gortys, is evidenced by the tens of thousands of visitors to these sites each year.

I had a great time in Crete, from lazy days at the beach to pub crawls at night. This is a large island to explore, so scooters came in handy.

A True Taste of Crete with Angela and Stellios from Strata Tours, Kissimos. A truly wonderful couple. Highly recommend anything they organise.

The largest island in Greece, is also the most interesting. Forget the obvious, historical ruins, pristine beaches, great food. What about the hidden treasures? Strips of the sea that can only be reached by boat. A small church built into the side of a rock, that can only be viewed from a cliff. The Mountains, hidden islands and the villages that make up this cultural wonderland. Going to Crete is like being in another country. They even speak differently. I love the differences and the escape that the village's bring.

My first sun holiday destination when I was 17. Lovely weather but too saturated with 18 to 30 holiday makers.

An different experience of Greece! The Cretans are some of the most traditional and happy people!
And you can understand why some people think that it is always hot in Greece...

Didn't like so much. The greek are not very customer friendly. In one store I even got thrown out because I asked about the price of the peaches. To many tourists for my taste, you could even buy "Kalles kaviar" int the supermarket. Nice beach though, can't complain about the beach or wearther for that matter..Love the sun and sea.
