The 1926 Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables is a designated National Historic Landmark. The swimming pool seems to go for acres, and once had a very promising swim instructor named Johnny Weissmuller. He quit his gig to go off and win five Olympic gold medals and star in Tarzan movies. Everyone from the Duke of Windsor to Bing Crosby stayed at the Biltmore, until World War II when it was converted into a military hospital. It didn't re-open as a hotel until 1987, and is now as luxe as ever.

This five star luxury hotel is the dream wedding spot of every Miami bride. Of course, most can't afford it. And it has one of the best restaurants in the city, the Palm D'or, accessible to most only during Miami Spice, when menus are half price. The hotel's landscaped lawns are beautiful and the vast golf course is pristine. Walk around on any day and you are likely to see a peacock opening its feathers. Best of all, it's full of history, haunted history. Some have claimed that the ghost of a mobster killed on the 13th floor haunts the floor. It has been closed to the public for many years. The floor is not accessible on the elevators, which are also supposedly haunted.

My friends took me to a beer tasting here. It was a good night. The pictures stain Facebook to this day. If I run for political office I'm sure more will surface.

Even if you do not want to stay at Biltmore Hotel, it is worthy to visit it. A wonderful place to walk and enjoy the architecture, landscapes and gorgeous pool. If you want to have the best Sunday Brunch in town, here you will find it. Not to be missed.

Picture a dreamlike setting complete with exquisite, hand-painted frescoes on ceilings barrel-vaulted, brilliant travertine floors, fine marble columns, intricate leaded glass fixtures, carved mahogany furnishings and lavish gardens. Then picture this all in the shadow of the Moorish Giralda tower spiraling. Everything in Biltmore is gorgeous!

Warning: I was a day visitor at this hotel so for overnight reviews look elsewhere.

I sat down for the afternoon tea at the Biltmore and was pleasantly surprised by the great service and quality of the food served. I heard great things about the Sunday brunch...have to try that next time.

Drive up to the valet parking in style and get 50% off with a stamp from the restaurant. Wish we have had the insight to get a day pass for the pool. It is insane!!!

The hotel is obviously a little old but its character sures makes up for any lack of modernity.

The Biltmore Hotel is a throwback to the glamorous past of Miami. Its location in the Coral Gables area is pretty stellar; you'll find old oak trees dripping with moss, and a slew of gorgeous, expansive homes in the area. The hotel itself is pretty magnificent, and you can visit it without being an overnight guest. You could have a meal in their romantic outdoor courtyard restaurant, or treat yourself to a spa day (or afternoon), and they have a "culinary academy" - so you could take a three-hour cooking class if that's up your alley!
