Made famous by Anthony Bourdain, Guavate is home to the world famous Pork Highway. A Saturday or Sunday afternoon drive up into the hills of Guavate finds one lechonera (i.e. pork palace) after another. Helpful Hint - do some online research of the side dishes that are available at these local joints so you'll be prepared for the selections.
Guavate is a street row of local pig roast eateries located in nearby Cayey, P.R.. Deep in the country, this is where many locals get the best roast pig and all the local ethnic food trimmings. It's about a 50 minute drive from Fajardo. A nice place to go and have a Sunday lunch/brunch. You must go there with a big appetite!
