A huge fair and stampede that takes over the whole city. Pancake breakfast, square dancing and the fabulous grand stand show are complemented with a huge midway and a great trade fair! Yummy street food and games of all sorts. Every night there are fireworks to dazzle and impress.

The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth",[3] attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing and First Nations exhibitions.

The event's roots are traced to 1886 when the Calgary and District Agricultural Society held its first fair. In 1912, American promoter Guy Weadick organized his first rodeo and festival, known as the Stampede. He returned to Calgary in 1919 to organize the Victory Stampede in honour of soldiers returning from World War I. Weadick's festival became an annual event in 1923 when it merged with the Calgary Industrial Exhibition to create the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.

Organized by thousands of volunteers and supported by civic leaders, the Calgary Stampede has grown into one of the world's richest rodeos, one of Canada's largest festivals and a significant tourist attraction for the city. Rodeo and chuckwagon racing events are televised across Canada.

Biggest event to go on in Calgary. For 10 days the city shuts down, puts on their cowboy boots and hat and goes all out with the drinking, partying and stampeding. This event is for EVERYONE! There is the rodeo itself, which is a ticketed event, admission on to the grounds is free with a rodeo ticket. In the evenings there is the chuck wagon races followed by the Grand Stand show, also a ticketed event.
There is a huge fair ground for games and rides, and most importantly once a year fair foods! Deep fried everything, cones, corn dogs, mini donuts, pizza, cotton candy, candied apples to name a few.
The BMO center turns into a big gallery of Western Art, and also a large shopping area where you can get all sorts of good and buy lottery tickets for dream homes, autos, RVs and much more.
Parking on the lot is expensive, best way to get into the event is take the C-Train into Stampede park. Remember to buy a ticket, that station is within the paid fare zone.
