Nice hotel in downtown Burbank with a decent gym, arcade, and a really nice business center. Suites are roomy and nice, and the hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants and a shopping center.

When I walked into this place I was surprised. This was not the Holiday Inn of the 90’s. It was huge and upscale, with a large front entrance and two connecting buildings. The arcade alone was the size of a bedroom and the lobby of the hotel was as large as a Vegas casino without the smoke.

The cocktail lounge was really beautiful. It has a Hollywood theme, perfect for the area (I think there’s several movie studios within a 5 mile radius. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and if you have a kid, they eat for free. My favorite part of this hotel are the glass elevators looking to the outside of the hotel (though I can see people with vertigo getting a bit nauseated from that).

The imposing two towers beckon from the freeway but on approaching the entry, a curious little woodland scene of deer and bunnies surround the signage and the unexpectedly theme follows inside with touches like an interior window with a gnome display! Somebody has a sense of humor. The 1970 stucco exterior belies the smart upgrade that is ongoing throughout. Designed to feel like the halls are little streets. One tower is all suites and the other has a variety of rooms from King to Double-Doubles stylish furnishings. The list of complimentary amenities from WiFi to breakfast also includes covered parking - a good savings of $15-35 per day. After a day visiting nearby attractions or LA, the car can stay in the lot since downtown Burbank is a short stroll away for dining, shopping, cinemas, and more.

This Holiday Inn in Burbank seemed to be a very busy place - lots of activity was happened in all corners of the lobby. It's a very big hotel with 2 large towers and exterior elevators. From the exterior it seems to be a bit dated but the lobby and the most of the rooms have been recently renovated. Very typical of Holiday Inn.
Although most of the staff was friendly, at times I felt they were thinking, I was asking too many questions.

Holiday Inn Burbank is in a good location off a major Los Angeles freeway and a great tree lined neighborhood that Johnny Carson must have meant by his saying, "Located in beautiful downtown Burbank." Fun shops and restaurants are all in walking distance.
If you are lucky to get a upper floor, then you will get a great view of Los Angeles, Burbank and the near by mountains.

The Holiday Inn Burbank Media Center offers clean rooms, reasonable rates, and plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Free wireless internet is available, although it tends to be on the slow side. Rooms include a small refrigerator - large enough for a gallon of milk, a carton of eggs, and a couple of takeout containers, a microwave, iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. I'm not sure what this "pillow bar" is that they mention in their advertising - our bed had four pillows, all soft, but comfortable.

The room service menu is rather uninspired, especially breakfast. During our stay, we ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes, the blueberry pancakes, and the eggs and bacon plate. The eggs were cooked to order (scrambled, dry); the cinnamon roll pancakes were rather chewy with no real discernible cinnamon taste, and the blueberry pancakes - well, I'll have to take their word on it as I didn't see a single blueberry. They rather looked like they had been made from a Jiffy mix. Still, while the food wasn't exciting, it was serviceable, and since the hotel is within walking distance of many good eateries, not really an issue.

Check in and check out went quickly and smoothly. We did have a small issue with our sink being clogged, but we mentioned it on our way out for the evening, and by the time we got back several hours later, it was fixed. (They asked us if it was all right if they went up since we were on our way out - I thought that was very courteous of them.)

For a few dollars more, you can get a room with a view. I recommend this. Our room overlooked the shopping district, which is nestled between two mountainous areas. Absolutely spectacular, especially during sunrise.

I tend to be a bit of a prima donna when it comes to hotels (I love the Omni chain) and even though this property looks like it might be a bit older, it's well maintained, very clean, and comfortable. I recommend it and plan to stay here again on my next trip to Burbank.
