Aires. The 335-foot-long pedestrian bridge connects both sides of the upscale Puerto Madero, which is separated by an artificial canal. This beautifully astounding structure was engineered in such a way so the central portion of the bridge is enabled to open at a 90-degree angle to allow for easy passage of mid-sized water traffic. Inspired by the Latin dance know as the Tango, Calatrava's design abstractly resembles a couple moving to Argentina's most sensual type of dancing.

Not sure why it got its name, but it is part of a nice water front in Puerto Madero and make for some nice pictures at night as it is well illuminated. Fun place to just walk around.

Puente de la Mujer is a beautiful bridge in Puerto Madero, just a short walk away from Retiro/Microcentro (Downtown). You can see the La Plata River on either side and it looks great during the sunset and at night. It's a good place to talk a walk and think, and is also near cafés, restaurants, and the Edificio de la Munich (headquarters of all BA museums), and the ecological reserve.

An interesting bridge in the redeveloped Puerto Madero that is supposed to represent two tango dancers.

A very uniquely shaped bridge connecting two points in Puerto Madero. The bridge spans a canal built by the Argentines.

Designed after two people doing the tango, what more can I say. A very majestic piece of architecture. Very modern yet it still holds the spirit of the city. You can almost see the couple dancing.

Designed by an Spain architect, the Puente de la Mujer is a footbrige located at Puerto Madero.
The architect has described the design as a synthesis of the image of a couple dancing the tango.

The Bridge of the Woman is a swinging--it rotates to allow passage through the water--footbridge in Puerto Madero that was designed to represent a couple dancing the tango.

London has its wobbly bridge connecting St Paul's Cathedral and the Tate Modern, Buenos Aires has this hallmark design from Santiago Caltraver which is now the centrepiece of a fully revitalised Puerto Madero.

I really like Calatrava's work and his pedestrian bridge in Redding, California remains one of my favorite travel discoveries. So that's why I made this a mandatory stop on my trip to Buenos Aires. It's really lovely, and the neighborhood of Puerto Madero is very cool.

The Puente de la Mujer - or Woman's Bridge in English - is a really nice contemporary bridge located in Puerto Madero.

The shapes, the asymmetrical form and the cables that suspend part of the bridge get a lot of attention and you can see people trying different angles with their cameras, pretty interesting.
