including some off-the-wall ones like Noodle Kugel (during certain Jewish holidays). In addition to regular ice cream, they have a lot of low-fat hard ice cream and frozen yogurt (soft serve) and plenty of other treats like milkshakes and delicious hot chocolate. The location in Harvard Square usually has a line out the door in the summertime. It's well worth the wait!

I am such a fan. I even once trekked across to JP Licks after a BSO concert in the evening when it was freezing and pouring down rain. Their ice cream soda is absolutely heavenly.

I love JP Lick's! It's the perfect post- (ok, pre- and during-) shopping treat when you're strolling along Newbury Street. They make the best frappes, and always have some crazy unique flavors that make it stand apart from nearby Coldstone Creamery (bleh). The Newbury location is a bit small, so it's best to just order a scoop or cone and eat it outside.

I was in Boston on a COLD season and getting FROYO. Yes... I was told this place was good.

The girl let me try some samples but they ran out of Cookie flavor... :( But other than that, I got the Oreo and it was pretty good.

Prices are standard to other Froyo places. The only downside is the limited amount of flavors. I am so used to places with rows of flavors but other than that, it's fine.

SERVICE:
Friendly and I got to try different flavors without being charged.
I bought Oreo.

Pretty standard.

Although Emack & Bolio's puts up a good fight, J.P. Licks remains Boston's best ice cream spot. While there are several around the city, the original (the J.P is for Jamaica Plain, after all) is just a little more historically satisfying. You can't go wrong with the sumptuous selections of ice cream, frozen yogurt (both hard and soft), milkshakes, and pastries. They don't always have El Diablo (chocolate ice cream with cinnamon and cayenne pepper) on the menu, but if they happen to have it as a special when you're there, go for it!

Cute ice cream shop, well decorated with deliciously home made ice cream and fun, EXTREMELY generous staff.

I came in after pigging out throughout the entire Newbury st strip of random shops and snacks. I saw their sizes and asked for a kiddie cup. I ended up getting almost two scoops. In a kiddie cup!!

I appreciated the more value for my money but I was really, really full.

They have a huge variety of ice cream, frozen yogurt, low fat stuff, NON DIARY STUFF!! and lactose free ice cream. The lactose free vanilla was deeeeelicious! If lactose free was that good I'd want to be lactose free too :)

I got the cookies and cream, and despite its chocolatey look, it was still quite good and white cream based. This is a fun and fantastic treat on any day, dreary or not.

This is the best Ice Cream in Boston. Rich and creamy with fun flavors like mint oreo and even grape-nut. There are only 4 or 5 outposts and only in Boston, and the decor in each is wonderfully silly, with windy pink and black mosaics and cow motifs. The Newbury Street location has a giant teacup in the corner. Full disclosure: I worked here for the better part of a year while a struggling college student.
