The Arcotel offers grandiose comfort, including giant rocking chairs in honor of its namesake. Situated within easy walking distance to the big Berlin attractions and reasonably priced, it's ideal for tourists as well as business travelers. For the latter, there is free, fast-paced w-fi in the rooms -- a rarity for even the fanciest of German hotels. Yet despite its central location, I found the inside of the hotel calm and quiet. The service, which greets you as you walk in, was friendly and helpful. As a plus, the hotel also offers special rooms with customized beds and bath tubs for disabled travelers.
Right smack dab in the middle of everything, and close to a lot of the main sights, this hotel is also themed for John F. Kennedy, as it is located right next to the foreign office. With a large conference room, a business center right in the lobby, and a lobby bar that features 60 different types of whiskey, this hotel is firmly geared towards the business crowd, and does so very well. The rooms are warm and inviting, very comfortable, and with all the amenities that you would expect, including rocking chairs, which John F himself was apparently a big fan of. Free wifi in your room is included, however the breakfast is an extra 7.50/day. The spa has several different saunas, as well as a gym, and the service is excellent.
One of the very few hotels in the city that has free WiFi in the rooms but with such a central and convenient locale you won't need to spend much time on the web. Checkpoint Charlie, the DDR Museum, Alexanderplatz and the Brandenburg gate are all close by, as is the Gendarmenmarkt which has a lovely traditional Christmas Market from early December onwards. If you're there in the holidays definitely spend one night there and try some Gluhwein whilst bopping to the kitschy German festive music. It's a memorable experience.
Rooms are really cozy and I think the rocking chair provided is a novel touch. They offer guests a JFK themed room in honor of the hotel's namesake but I have to say, after looking at the preview images they sent, unless you're a headbanging confederate don't stay there. Stick to the Superior Room and get a splendid view of the courtyard or the Freidrichwerdersche Church.
A nicely situated hotel, just a short walk from the lively Unter den Linden and a host of other sights Berlin has to offer. The hotel was modern, from the lobby to the rooms that are equipped with pretty much everything one could need. I liked the fact that there are a few computers in the lobby with free internet acces. The hotel is clean, and staff is helpful and professional. The breakfast menu during the weekend is very nice, and available until 12 oclock.
