Ellis is a solid option for those looking for a super central downtown location; it's a block from MARTA Station. The rooms are smallish and could probably use a little updating, but this is the kind of hotel you come to lay your head down. There is actually a good restaurant, E Street Grille, and the staff is extra helpful.

This hotel is unbelievable! I am in love. From the outside in, it just modernizes itself. The building is an Atlanta landmark and convenient to all of the downtown hotspots: museums, tours, bars, and restaurants, etc. Then once you step inside, it's mid-century modern revival at it's best- Don Draper wishes his penthouse looked like this! It is beautiful. What blew me away, though, were the special offerings from the Ellis. Not uncommon, but still cute, is a VIP pet floor with a check in treat for your pup. Then there's an entire floor with exclusive access that is entirely hypoallergenic and specially filtered air. But what blew me away was the women's only floor. Again, it is special access only, but this doesn't just provide security for solo female travelers, it provides a webcam for you to communicate with your special people that you left behind. I can't wrap my head around how cutting edge this is! The Bistro is a farm to table eatery with a gorgeous Peachtree Street patio, and the hotel offers happy hour with $1 wine, $5 tapas and cocktails. This hotel is an absolute must.

Stepping inside the Ellis Hotel in downtown Atlanta, I couldn’t help but notice a wonderful fragrance. My first thought was it was coming from one of the beautiful flower arrangements that adorned the lobby, but after further investigation I realized the scent was coming from an air freshener. This boutique style hotel differs from many of the other downtown options in that it is small and intimate, approximately ten rooms per floor. The view from the room I saw wasn’t ideal, facing another building, but I think the upscale accommodations (such as the pillow-top mattresses) provide a nice, comfortable, get away from the gritty downtown landscape. Just off the lobby you will find the Terrace Bistro. Offering more than just lunch and dinner, this farm to table concept offers Happy Hour from 5:00-6:30 pm.

Right in the heart of downtown, the Ellis Hotel is a refreshing boutique alternative to the hustle of huge conference hotels. The bright lobby, meeting spaces and restaurant right off the entrance are enhanced with bold pops of color and luxe modern décor that complements the hotel’s historic architecture rather than compete with it. The rooms are spacious with loads of natural light, comfy beds, ipod docks, and many have pull-out couches. I found it the Women’s Only floor to be a very thoughtful inclusion, so that female guests traveling alone feel secure and comfortable (Plus, they have extra girls-only amenities on that floor like curling/flat irons and fuzzy slippers.) I can’t think of another hotel in Atlanta with a similar policy. The service was excellent—I watched several staff members go out of their way to make sure their guests were happy and comfortable, and they never seemed too busy to listen to a guest. Another note, their food is really excellent—I had a shrimp and kale salad that was on par with some of the city’s nicest restaurants. I would definitely recommend the Ellis as one of the most personal and upscale hotels downtown.

For all of the history buffs and ghost story lovers this is the Atlanta hotel for you! The Ellis Hotel is housed in the Winecoff Building that burned in 1946 tragically killing 119 people. Since then, the hotel has gone through many changes and is now the Ellis Hotel.

This boutique property is a stark contrast to it’s dark past. The most recent renovation was is 2007. The hotel is very light, elegant, and modern. The extremely friendly staff seem to anticipate the needs of the traveler while focusing on their “Wow” experience.

A very unique feature to this hotel is the women’s only floor designed to help women travelers feel safe and secure, but there are also extra amenities on this floor like curling/flat irons and bath beads.

Visitors often ask of the hotel’s tragic past and many say they have experienced paranormal activity. There is even a lullaby that depicts the events of that December night. Whether or not you believe in ghosts this is a hauntingly great find in downtown Atlanta!

I really liked my stay at the Ellis while I was in Atlanta for business. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated.

Although it was a little pricey, the staff was friendly, and I didn't have a thing to complain about. I'd definitely stay again!
