Arkansas Vacations

Otherwise known as “The Natural State,” Arkansas is a place of lush forests, numerous caverns (like the War Eagle) and the Mississippi River. (The Spaniards first arrived in Arkansas looking for gold and a passage to China, but what explorer Hernando de Soto ought to have looked for were diamonds, as the state is the only one in the country where ... the precious rocks are currently mined.) It is for this reason visitors are drawn to Arkansas, and its attractions include hot springs, hiking and riverboat cruising. Activities range from the intense to the relaxing; from adventure sports and rodeos to bird watching and celebrations of the buffalo. Little Rock holds significance in Civil Rights history, as well as a plethora of museums, Civil War reenactments, and galleries that help tourists to revisit the state's rich history. to do much of anything outdoors, unless it involves jumping into a large body of water. The only other respites from the heat are after sunset when temperatures cool into the low 70s (low 20s Celsius) and when the occasional cold front blows through. Winters are chilly but bearable with small amounts of snow, rain, and the occasional ice storm. Spring (especially May) and fall (late-September to October) are the most pleasant times of the year to visit with weather in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit (15-23).

When you're thinking of Arkansas, think parks because Arkansas has over fifty of them. It's one of the most beautiful states in the nation, and worth a vist whether a romantic getaway to Hot Springs, or a family vacation in Little Rock.

It follows a similar rating to how I feel about other Southern states in general. Just seems a bit dated compared to the rest of the country and the culture difference (super conservative) didn't exactly rub shoulders with me well.
