Accra Vacations

The appeal of Accra lies less in traditional tourist attractions and more in the color and energy that appear to pour out of every nook and cranny of this bustling city. Sure, the Ghana National Museum and the Independence Arch are well worth a visit, but you won’t get the real Accra experience until you have sunbathed, partied, bartered for ... Read more
souvenirs and filled up on delicious Ghanaian food. After spending a day at the ocean, check out the reggae DJs and live music at Labadi Beach, or, if you’d rather stay in the city, get a drink (or a few) and dance the night away at one of the many hip clubs, like +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, one of the best music venues in Ghana. For top-quality handicrafts from all over the country, head over to the Centre for National Culture, where you can test your bargaining skills at the many stalls that sell arts and crafts. When it’s time to eat, get your fill of must-try Ghanaian staples like fufu, banku and waakya, or you can try out some of Accra's numerous upscale international restaurants.

large and elegant 19th Century colonial buildings to skyscrapers and apartment blocks made of concrete, glass and steel in the 1970s. I visit ones when I was a traveling for work ,

Akwaaba! The Ghanaian capital, Accra, is a chaotic-but-intriguing representation of modern Ghana. While it lacks some of the hospitality and beauty of the rest of the country, it serves as the business and international hub as well as the jumping point for domestic travels. It is a city full of contrast, with street food and gourmet meals, glitz and poverty, traditional wraps and designer brands all being presented side by side. Accra offers an intense yet fascinating look at modern Ghana, and so long as you can see past the mess, you can even learn to love it.

Local from Accra, Ghana

Welcome to Ghana, the glamorous West African country, rich in history, diverse culture, beautiful landscape, clean beaches, natural forests, and many more exciting sights, events, adventure, and activities. Yes, welcome to African's friendliest nation. From the first day you set foot on Ghanaian soil, you will enjoy the genuine love and warmth of the people... yes, the special welcome that will definitely make you feel at home, away from home. Once again Akwaaba!!!Accra is the capital of Ghana, and the place most tourists begin their trips. I wouldn't spend too much time, here, as there are many other cities with a lot more to do that are a lot less hectic, although a trip to the Cultural Cente, James Town, and the various markets is a good way to spend your time here.

While working for a non-profit (NGO) with Fearless Planet I was introduced to Ghana. This was one of the best places I have been to, it changed my life forever. I was fortunate to meet so many incredible people that will now be part of my family. The history of the slave trade was heartbreaking but a MUST for all to experience if given the chance to visit this land.
