Arguably not a relaxing destination, Ethiopia is at least one of the most interesting destinations on this list. This African country is a place for those researching where to travel in August who are seeking something a little more adventurous and out of their comfort zone. The capital city, Addis Ababa has developed tremendously over the years. Begin your trip in the hustle and bustle of the city streets and markets, then eventually make your way to hike the Simien Mountains.
