1. Halifax, Nova Scotia
A major stop in the Maritimes, the seaside city of Halifax has a fascinating history with lots to see and do throughout the year. The refurbished waterfront features a great boardwalk with lively restaurants, children’s playgrounds and boats offering tours of the picturesque harbour. Don’t forget to indulge in some lobster subs along the way!

4. Eastern Townships, Quebec
This is a tranquil area an hour or so south of Montreal, with lovely lakes, rolling hills and beautiful inns. Stop at the Leon Courville winery for good wine and great conversation. The town of North Hatley is one of the prettiest in Canada, set on the north shore of Lake Massawippi with a lovely pier, waterfront park and adorable shops. The area is filled with remarkable places to stay and great food choices. Auberge West Brome has lovely rooms in sunny yellow buildings in a pretty valley, with an excellent restaurant.
