What to Expect in New York
When arriving in New York, travellers do not need to change the time on their watches, as the time zone is the same as in Toronto. From JFK Airport, passengers can choose from a variety of ways to get to Manhattan. There are trains and buses from the airport that connect to the city's extensive public transportation system. Travellers can take the AirTrain from the airport to get on the subway at Howard Beach Station and then catch the A train from there. Another option is to take the AirTrain to Sutphan Boulevard Station and get on the E, J, or Z train. The fare would be about CA$11 total.
A taxi is the most comfortable way into Manhattan for travellers carrying bulky luggage. There is a flat-rate taxi fare of approximately CA$70, plus tolls. The trip from the airport into Manhattan proper should take about an hour, but rush hour traffic can double the amount of time.
