Departing from Halifax International Airport

Halifax's Stanfield International Airport (YHM) is located about 40km from Halifax's city center, so driving there is definitely the most convenient and affordable option. Long-term parking is available in a variety of locations near the airport:

  • Park n' Fly lot ($75/week, $15/day - Best Value!): Turn right at the Tim Horton's and follow the signs to reach the parking lot. Free shuttle services run 24 hours a day and can take you to the terminal in about ten minutes.
  • Terminal Exterior Parking ($90/week, $18/day): Located a short walk from the terminal entrance, this open-air parking lot can be reached by following the signs that say "exterior" when entering the airport property.
  • Parkade ($105/week, $21/day): Located just outside the terminal entrance, this closed-roof parking lot (except for level 4A, which is on the roof) is labeled "Daily Parking", but has options for long-term stays as well.

YHM has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and lounges to keep you busy while you wait for your flight. If you're traveling with children, you're sure to appreciate the children's play area! Free wi-fi is available, but there are no designated charging stations for your devices.

Arriving in Hamilton

Hamilton International is a fairly straight-forward airport. Just follow the signs to collect your baggage, then make your way to the exit! To get to your hotel, just hire a taxi or pick up a rental car. There are also several shuttle companies, but you'll have to book them in advance. The Hamilton Street Railway also offers service to downtown Hamilton on the A-line, if you prefer to take public transit.

Practical Information

As a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can travel freely on any domestic flight in Canada as long as you hold at least one piece of valid government-issued photo ID. This can be a passport, drivers' license, or any other government-issued identification card with your photo. If you don't have photo ID, you'll need two pieces of government ID that include your name, date of birth, and gender.

Plan on arriving at least 90 minutes before your domestic flight to give yourself enough time to check in, move through security, and find your gate.
