Inside: Jeju International Airport

Jeju International Airport is a small, but modern airport with a single terminal. That makes navigating it extremely easy, especially thanks to a number of recent renovations. Despite its small size, there are lots of amenities to choose from, including duty-free shopping, restaurants, free WiFi, and a children's play area. Because Jeju is such a popular place for vacationing Koreans, be aware that the airport can get very busy during holidays and the summer period, so prepare for delays during those times.

Landing at Seoul-Gimpo Airport

Seoul-Gimpo is Seoul's second-largest airport after Incheon International Airport and also the closest one to the city centre. If you have a connecting flight at Incheon you can grab the AREX train, which links Seoul Central Station with both airports. When getting to the city centre you can take the AREX train in the opposite direction. Gimpo Airport is also served by Lines 5 and 9 of the Seoul Subway, which can take you almost anywhere within Seoul. A number of different taxis are also available when you exit the terminal, with separate stands for standard taxis, taxis to Incheon Airport, deluxe taxis, and jumbo taxis. If you are comfortable driving in South Korea, you can also rent a car from one of the three rental agencies located at the airport.

Seoul is a massive city with a population in the tens of millions. While it may appear overwhelmingly crowded and modern at first glance, you'll soon find that Seoul retains many reminders of its ancient past. It has five historic royal palaces, including Changdeok-gung, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Namdaemun is a historic gate to the city and widely viewed as the symbol of Seoul itself. If you are looking for more modern attractions then head to the N Seoul Tower for fantastic views of the city. Street markets are also an integral part of Korean life and you will find plenty worth exploring in the capital, with Namdaemun and Dongdaemun being the most interesting.
