Hotels in Memphis

Memphis, birthplace of the blues and home to Graceland, has a rightful claim to fame for being one of the preeminent destinations for American music lovers. This storied city has had a turbulent history, with many highs and lows. While Memphis still has its fair share of problems, the city stands out for its cultural heritage and the intense pride of its residents.

When looking for hotels in Memphis, most are clustered in the Downtown area and around Graceland (which is also conveniently located close to the international airport). Memphis is also an easy city to drive around and Skyscanner can help you rent a car for your stay.

High-End Hotels

Most of the top-rated hotels in Memphis are located in the Downtown precinct and include:

Big Cypress Lodge: located in the iconic Memphis Pyramid on the shores of the Mississippi, the Big Cypress Lodge is very much a destination in and of itself. The decor, with deer heads mounted above the beds, reflects the fact that this hotel (along with the Pyramid) is owned by Brass Pro Shops. Service here is exceptional and amenities include an aquarium, bowling alley, observation deck, and archery range. This is an ideal hotel for bringing kids or outdoor recreational enthusiasts to.

The Westin Memphis Beale Street is located Downtown right on Beale Street, the home of the blues and of countless bars and nightclubs. This modern hotel is also home to exceptional amenities, with the gym and health centre standing out for being particularly superb.

Mid-Range Hotels

Memphis has quite a few mid-range hotels offering both reasonable prices and great amenities:

Holiday Inn Express Memphis Medical Center is located in the eastern end of Downtown and adjacent to Interstate 69, which puts you just minutes from the airport if you are flying to Memphis. Amenities here include express check-in, a fitness centre, a great breakfast buffet, and exceptional service.

Sleep Inn at Court Square Memphis is just steps from the Mississippi and many rooms include views of the iconic river. Situated in Downtown, guests are minutes away from Beale Street, Mud Island Park, and the Cook Convention Center.  There are also business-class rooms with fax service that are ideal for those who are working while travelling.

Basic Accommodation

Memphis also has plenty of budget options, especially around Graceland and the airport:

Days Inn Memphis at Graceland is decorated with Elvis memorabilia and, appropriately enough, has a swimming pool in the shape of a guitar. Rooms are nicely furnished and there is a deluxe complimentary breakfast. Given its location right across the street from Graceland, this hotel is ideal for Elvis fans. It is also close to the airport.

Vista Inn and Suites Memphis is a basic hotel located in Downtown Memphis. Services and amenities here are limited, although there is a basic breakfast, luggage storage, and safe deposit boxes. The main attraction, however,  is the location. You are steps away from famous Beale Street, the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum, and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. If you are coming to experience this city's musical heritage, this hotel serves as an excellent base.
