A small city in central Scotland, the main sight here is the magnificent medieval castle. Worth a visit but spend your time exploring Stirlingshire as a whole which has some amazing lochs and hills.
Stirling and its castle are worth a gander. We were starving when we got here, so we grabbed lunch at The Portcullis near Sterling Castle.
It's a cute hilly town with a castle and lots of beautiful buildings. All the streets are cobblestones. I suspect there isn't much more to do/see after 2 or 3 days. It's easily accessible via train from/to Edinburgh. Or, if you're a bit more adventurous, you could bike there like I did!
Gateway to the Scottish Highlands. Stirling has played an important strategic role since the Roman days, which explains the massive and imposing castle. Also make sure you check out the Church of the Holy Rood, where King James was crowned king of Scotland
