The staff members were very friendly. The hotel was very clean and quiet, it made feel as if I was on a farm.
It was a great experience, I will definitely stay at this hotel again if I go back to Tapalpa

Rooms nice but hotel too old and careless

The rooms are cozy and pleasant. It was a surprise to find such great rooms compared to the reception area and tables next to the pool which are old, dirty, and need an urgent remodeling. The pool looks inviting at first sight, but once you get into the water is extremely cold, has no heat and considering the climate in Tapalpa, it’s necessary! The bikes available for rental are too old and it looks they haven’t received service for Long time. There’s only two people in charge, the receptionist and the waiter, who is also the bartender, the waiter at the pool, the man who rents the kayaks, ( which are old and broken) , he does everything in there. You can see the owner in the morning having breakfast at the small restaurant but he isn’t worried for the guests! It’s a pity, they could have this hotel in a much better condition.

NOT a luxury hotel

This place claims to be a luxury hotel and they what to charge like they are.... But they are far from it.
Starting with the staff...TWO people are suppose to do everything
The beds are the most uncomfortable old mattresses I have ever seen "and I travel for a living constantly "
The food is poor quality to say the least not to mention being surrounded by flies.
Of course having two people on staff we had to wait all day for our room to be cleaned... Sorry to say not a good job there either
If you decide to try it anyway make sure you get the account settled beforehand or you will end up paying twice what you were quoted

lamentamos y pedimos una disculpa por no haber podido cumplir con sus expectativas en esta su segunda estadía. Nos apena que parte de su molestia fue indicarles que sus hijos adultos mayores de 20 años ,no podían pasar por menores de 12 años en la ocupación de la habitación que ofrecemos en nuestra pagina web. Mas sin embargo les agradecemos sus comentarios para en lo consecuente ser mejores cada dia

Poor service quality, beautiful place

I was not sure about giving my review only 2 points, but El Remanso is not an average hotel, instead it's website sells the idea of a luxury resort, with an spectacular view to Presa El Nogal, and country style rooms, where romanticism or special ocassions can easily take place.
The hotel is beatiful, from the views, to the building, decoration, etc.
Problem started when a group of families, 8 to be precise, each with 2 or 3 kids from 2-5, decided to book this place. We did it in advance, 4 weeks prior to arrival.
Management never got ready for this, with only 1 person in the restaurant, serving all day, from breakfast, to dinner, you could imagine how tired he was at the end of the day.
Poor Service, I can't think of anything else. Receptionist was not efficient, not kind, not polite, she didn't seem to be involved. Service at the restaurant, was so poor, not kind, not oriented to a large group, not capable to provide the service for 16 adults and 15 kids with only one person.
Rooms. With 10-12 occupied rooms and only 2 people for cleaning, my room was "done" around 5pm, but not cleaned. Beds were done, but dust was al over the floor. Towels were not changed, even when requested. The bath mat was left, eventhough it was dirty.
Breakfast was included, and the taste was good, but bad service kills all good memories.

La alberca no esta templada y es muy fria el agua y esta algo sicia, los camastros de madera ya estan muy descuidados y astillasdos, las sillas a la.orilla de la presa tampoco les dan mantenimiento, no te puedes sentar ni en los camastros ni en las sillas tipo playa.
Faltan meseros en la terraza de abajo, tienes que ir a buscarlos para que te lleven los que necesitas ya que solo habia uno en el restaurante.
