Getting the perfect hotel at a great price is something we all strive for. As with all travel, you’re likely to find a good price on a hotel in Kagoshima if you book far enough in advance, but a lot of hotels also offer great last minute deals in Kagoshima. When there are beds left to fill, prices are often cut to attract last-minute deal hunters and spontaneous travellers who have the freedom and ability to visit Kagoshima at the last-minute. You might not get your first choice of hotels in Kagoshima, but you are likely to get more for your money. We don’t recommend you wait until the last-minute during peak seasons and when there are events taking place in Kagoshima though, as it is likely that accommodation will fill up early – and you don’t want to be left without a bed!
When visiting Kagoshima, there is plenty to explore – and finding a hotel near the main attractions will make this even easier. We recommend checking out hotels near 桜島ビジターセンター, 鹿児島県歴史資料センター黎明館 and Ishibashi Park, or using our map feature to find hotels near your specific points of interest.
Depending on your budget, length of stay and other factors, you might want to find an apartment or hostel in Kagoshima instead of a hotel. With the Skyscanner hotel search, you can set your filters by accommodation type to find your perfect match. On the flipside, you might not want to exclude hotels in Kagoshima altogether – you could get a great deal and enjoy a visit with a little more luxury!
Beautiful countryside and great food! Some of the best food I've eaten in Japan and I've been 23 times since 07!
Kagoshima is similar to most mid-tier Japanese cities with one major exception -- it lies next to Sakurajima, one of Japan's most active volcanoes. Gateway to the Satsuma Peninsula and Yakushima, Kagoshina is a pleasant place to spend a day or two. See Sakurajima, enjoy a hot springs bath, and be sure to try the local Satsuma cuisine which differs slightly from what you will find elsewhere in Japan. Pleasant, friendly, and well off the tourist circuit for most Westerners. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could.
Arriving here via cruise ship this was our introduction to Japan. Despite the light rain we had plenty to see thanks to the many covered shopping arcades. We enjoyed window shopping and the interacting with the locals. The city, spread along Kinko Bay, boasts Sakura-Jima active volcano.
Far off the beaten path, at the southern tip of the southern island of Kyushu, Kagoshima is a gorgeous city with a volcanic ex-island, Sakura-jima, that you can visit to go hiking. Unlike the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Osaka, this city has an unhurried atmosphere more like Kyoto. Don't miss a visit to Iso-teien, one of Japan's most treasured traditional gardens.
