Bintan Utara is an neighboring Indonesian island near Singapore. Thus, many Singaporeans come here via a 45 minute ferry ride to check out the local beaches and resorts. That being said, Bintan does not have much in terms of Indonesian culture and history. If you're coming from Singapore and want the convenience of visiting a nice beach, then Bintan is advised. Otherwise, if you're looking for something more Indonesian, then I would suggest going elsewhere.
White sand, clear water, a great place to escape just 30 minutes from singapore
A nice weekend away from the concrete hustle of Singapore, but otherwise I would not say there is too much to do here. Decent beaches at decent prices. If time permits, go to Malaysia or other islands in Indo instead.
I am not a big fan of Bintan as other than staying at the resorts, there is nothing much to do (yes, you can have a mangrove forest tour or dinner at seafood restaurants outside the resort compound). It is still considered a good weekend getaway destination due to its proximity to Singapore.
