Durrës is an ancient port city on the Adriatic Sea located west of Tirana, known for its huge Roman amphitheater. There are plenty of buses going between Tirana and one day would probably enough for Durres. The Archaeological Museum has numerous items from the Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman periods and nearby is a 9th-century church with mosaic-covered walls. Also be sure to take a walk along the seafront promenade to get a look at life here. Also, travelers will note that there is a ferry to Bari (Italy) across the Adriatic.

This is a port city on the Adriatic Sea, interesting but needs help. The people seemed very friendly and the traffic was steady (no traffic lights that we saw). Shopping was meager but we did find some free internet at a cafe. Not a lot of historic sights to see. Walked the entire main area in about 45 minutes.

Durres is a mainstream tourist destinations and as long as you dont mind the crowding then you will be fine.... loads going on from live shows and too many restaurants to mentions. The main strip can go on for miles and towards the end of it, almost on the outskirts of Durres, are some hidden secluded beaches. Best beaches would be towards shkembi i Kavajes, where it is usually less crowded and the sea is cleaner. The whole of Durres Coastline is sandy and not deep on the immediate shoreline.
