Exuberant, wildly diverse, and postcard gorgeous, Vancouver shines so brightly that it’s almost unfair to other destinations. There’s so much more that can be said about Vancouver, but it’s better for you to experience the city yourself. You are in the right place to find the cheapest flights to this lovely city!Vancouver Travel Guide
Explore Vancouver's Natural Beauty
From the standpoint of pure natural beauty, only Seattle can match Vancouver in terms of setting, so a visit to Granville Island makes for a great introduction to the city. After a picturesque ferry ride, people of all ages and interests will find something to love here: a fantastic food market, small bistros and cafes, art galleries, live music, theatres, and micro-breweries. When you’ve had your fill, work it off with a walk or bike ride in one of the city’s dozens of parks and gardens. The most famous and easily accessible is Stanley Park, where you can get good city views while encountering otters and seals by the seawall. When you’re ready for something more cosmopolitan, an evening in Gastown will do the trick. This neighborhood full of traditional architecture contrasts nicely with the silvery glass and steel of downtown, and is overloaded with great eateries and pubs.
From here on out, follow your interests no matter what they happen to be. Did you come here for the outdoors? Go hiking in Lighthouse Cover or Pacific Spirit Park without even leaving the city. Traveling as a family? The Vancouver Aquarium, Science Park, or beaches will keep kids engaged for days. Are you a party person? Grab local beer and craft cocktails in Yaletown, Davie Street, or Main Street while you dance until the sun comes up. Perhaps you travel to eat? No need to dig through Yelp here, because Vancouver is a foodie paradise, a place where you can enjoy the thrill of discovering fantastic cuisine just by wandering into any unknown place. For those on a budget, the array of top notch little ethnic joints along Robson Street will please your wallet and your taste buds, while travelers who came to splurge will find enough gourmet fare to stay busy for months.
When to Visit Vancouver
As you might expect, good weather is a must for a place that revolves so much around nature. For that reason, most people prefer to visit in the warmer, drier months from April to September. Of course, high season is also more expensive; if you’re on a budget or just want to avoid the crowds, October makes for a nice compromise. Unless you’re specifically heading there for skiing, you’ll probably want to avoid coming in winter.
Whenever you arrive, you’ll find plenty of high-quality hotels within walking distance of major attractions if you choose to stay downtown; for access to parks and nightlife, the West End might be your best option for accommodation. Getting to either neighborhood from the airport is easy – YVR sits at reasonable 15 km from downtown. You can grab a taxi for about $35 or hop on the subway for a mere $9.
