What to expect when arriving at the airport

The airport is located 15 km north of Santa Cruz's city centre. A taxi is the easiest and fastest way to get to Santa Cruz and, although it is the most expensive option, it is still cheap by North American standards. If you really want to save some money you can try taking the microbus, which is located outside the arrivals hall exit. These buses can get crowded and usually won't leave until they've filled up. The ride to the city centre on the bus takes about 30 minutes. You can also rent a car if you are brave and experienced enough to tackle Bolivia's notoriously dangerous traffic on your own.
