Cheap Flights to Campania

Campania is one of Italy's most historic and picturesque regions. The sprawling capital of Naples hugs a sweeping bay and is overlooked by the ominous and majestic Mount Vesuvius. In the countryside, meanwhile, you can enjoy some of the most beautiful seaside scenery anywhere on Earth, particularly the stunningly gorgeous Amalfi Coast. Archaeological sites are seemingly everywhere and the region is famous for having some of the best food in the country.

Getting to Campania by air is easy, with plenty of flights to Naples and other nearby airports arriving daily from Europe and further afield. You can find the cheapest time to get to Campania by taking advantage of Skyscanner's Whole Month search, which will show you the cheapest days of the month to fly.

What to Do in Campania

Most trips to Campania begin in Naples, a sprawling city on one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Featuring one of the world's largest historic city centres, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Naples is also home to more churches than any other city in the world. Castles, majestic plazas, and historic shopping arcades are all reminders of this city's proud history. The National Archaeological Museum is one of the best of its kind in the world with many artifacts from nearby Pompeii. Speaking of Pompeii, the ancient Roman city, with its eerily preserved streets and buildings, is a must-see and is only a short train ride from Naples.

Outside of the city itself you can find the island of Capri, which is famed for both its natural splendour as well as being the residence of notorious Roman Emperor Tiberius, whose palace can still be visited. The Amalfi Coast, meanwhile, is along the Campania mainland and is one of the most picture-perfect stretches of coastlines on the planet, featuring tiny villages hugging the rocky shore and small beaches tucked between dramatic cliffs. Best Time to Fly to Campania

While Campania is in the south of Italy, winters here are cold and rainy and should generally be avoided. Furthermore, while the main sights in Naples are open year-round, including Pompeii, many businesses along the Amalfi Coast are only operational during spring to autumn. July and August are extremely hot and August is when many people from Naples take their summer holidays, meaning that hotels in the Amalfi Coast fill up fast during this period. The shoulder seasons of spring and autumn offer the best combination of good weather (especially in June) and thin enough crowds that you can enjoy the main sights properly.

Airports in Campania

The only major airport in Campania is the Naples International Airport. While there are no direct flights to Naples from Canada (and only limited service to New York-JFK), it is easy to get a connecting flight through a European city, such as Rome, London, Paris, or Amsterdam, and then to fly onwards to Naples. The airport has a recently opened terminal offering many shopping and dining options. A train link to the airport is being constructed, but for the time being you will have to get to your hotel via bus or taxi.
