Airports in Alabama

Alabama is served by two international airports, both of which are located in the northern region of the state. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is the state's busiest air facility in terms of passenger traffic, having served more than 2.5 million passengers in 2015 alone. It is located approximately 8 kilometres from downtown Birmingham and is is equipped with all of the services and amenities that you would expect to find at a large, international airport. Ground transportation from the airport to the city centre is provided by taxis, shuttles, car rental agencies, and ride-share services.

Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is situated approximately 16 kilometres to the south-west of Huntsville. While it is a smaller airport than Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International in terms of passenger numbers, you'll still find a wide variety of services and amenities for arriving travellers -- including retail shops, restaurants, currency exchange facilities, free WiFi -- within the airport's main terminal. Ground transportation options at this airport include taxis, limousines, hotel shuttles, and coach lines. There are also several car rental agencies operating out the airport.
