Things to Do at the Victoria International Airport

Head toward the terminal entrance and you'll find your first clue that Victoria International Airport is an artsy place. A giant Illarion Gallant poppy sculpture, metal stems in a bright emerald green with blossoms of yellow, orange and pink greet all who drive by. Inside the glass-walled terminal you'll find swatches of coloured glass in the departure area. The Coast Salish First Nations people are also represented. Native carver Charles W. Elliot has carved plaques throughout the airport, along with totem poles outside of the arrival doors. Yes the waiting lounges are comfortable, the Wi-Fi is free and the obligatory Tim Horton's is onsite. But it's the artwork, and the seasonal hanging flower baskets, that make Victoria Airport a true Vancouver Island treasure.
