Cheap flights from Hawaii

Hawaii is one of the best beautiful places in the United States, with pristine beaches, lush jungles, and awe-inspiring volcanoes.  However, it is also the most isolated state and the most practical method from getting to Hawaii to anywhere else in the world is via airplane. Fortunately Hawaii is served by a number of important international airports and if you are looking to catch a cheap flight from Hawaii you have plenty of options. Skyscanner's route map is a particularly inspirational way to find ideas for your next adventure from Hawaii.

Most Popular Airports in Hawaii

Without a doubt the most important airport in Hawaii is the Honolulu International Airport. Officially called the Daniel K.  Inouye International Airport, this facility is one of the busiest in the United States. Many of the world's major airlines serve this airport, either year round or seasonally, including:

  • Air Canada Rouge
  • Air China
  • Alaska Airlines
  • All Nippon Airways
  • American Airlines
  • Delta Air Lines
  • Hawaiian Airlines
  • Jetstar Airways
  • Korean Air
  • Qantas
  • United Airlines
  • Virgin America
  • WestJet

All flights leaving for international cities and most for the U.S. mainland depart from the Overseas Terminal. However, a handful of U.S. bound flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines depart from the Inter-Island Terminal. Distances between the terminals are long,  although there is a shuttle bus, called the "Wiki Wiki" Bus, that provides interterminal transfers. To get to the airport you can take a bus, taxi or you can rent a car and drop it off at the airport. Note that at the Overseas Terminal airlines are not assigned gates, meaning that you will likely not learn your departure gate until you actually arrive at the airport

Other Airport Options

While Honolulu International Airport is Hawaii's largest airport, it is not your only option for flying overseas. On the Big Island of Hawaii you have two options: Hilo International Airport and the busier Kona International Airport. On Maui there is Hawaii's second-busiest airport, the Kahului Airport, and on Kauai there is Lihue Airport. These airports connect to a handful of destinations on the U.S. mainland, while some also offer service to Canada and Japan.

Where Is Popular to Fly to?

Getting to any country along the Pacific Rim is easy, especially if you are flying out of Honolulu International Airport. The most popular international destination is to Tokyo, a route that is served by six airlines. Seoul, with its amazing food and cosmopolitan flair, is also an extremely busy route. Sydney, meanwhile, offers some iconic sights, including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, while Vancouver has some of the greatest kayaking, skiing, and scenery in the world. Both destinations are easy to get to from Hawaii. If you are staying in the United States, the most popular city to fly to is Los Angeles, with some of the best shopping, culture, and attractions on the planet.
